Who we are
Welcome to the Kirkwall Baptist Church (KBC) website. Whether you have a lifetime of Christian experience or are just looking, we hope you'll find something of interest here and, if you are not already part of our church community, will be able to come along and visit us. We would love to meet you and welcome you into our fellowship.
We are Christians! We believe that Jesus Christ is God's Son and our Saviour. We believe that Jesus is "the way and the truth and the life" and that "no one comes to the Father" (John 14:6) except by putting their personal faith in Him as Lord and Saviour. We want to put Jesus at the centre of our church, community, family and personal lives.
We are evangelical in what we believe and how we live out our faith. When we put our their faith in Christ, we believe we should follow the pattern of the early New Testament church where believers were baptised in water as a sign of following Jesus. Use the evangelical link to view a note that outlines what it means to be evangelical or visit the Evangelical Alliance website for more information.
KBC is a member of the Baptist Union of Scotland, a family of Baptist Churches with over 14,000 members in approximately 175 churches. The Baptist Union of Scotland is, in turn, a member of the Evangelical Alliance.

Kirkwall Baptist Church Service Times
Sunday Morning Service 11:15 am
After opening intimations, musicians and singers lead the worship. The words of the songs, mostly from 'Songs of Fellowship', are projected onto a large screen. In school term time, part way through the service the youngsters go out to the Crèche, Nursery, Sunday School or Bible Class while others remain to hear the speaker who may be a member of the Preaching Team, one or more folk from a Small Group, or a visiting guest. Many use PowerPoint presentations to support their talks. A range of different versions of the Bible may be used. The morning service normally finishes around 12.45 pm.
Sunday Evening Service 6:15 pm
Evening Services tend to be quieter and more reflective than Morning Services and there are no special provisions for children. The format of services may vary. Evening Services normally finish around 7:45 pm and are followed by tea and biscuits, with time for chatting with friends and meeting new people.
Communion
The normal timing for Communion is for it to take place during Morning Service on the first Sunday of the month and during Evening Service on other Sundays in the month. This is sometimes changed to accommodate special events and during the summer school holidays when family services apply, Communion is always during Evening Service.
It's been more than 7 years since the last service times update. Please make sure to contact the church to confirm service times.

Forgive us
O God, forgive the poverty and the pettiness of our prayers . Listen not to our words but to the yearnings of our hearts. Hear beneath our petitions the crying of our need.
