1 Peter 1:24-25

"For, "All men are like grass, and all their glory is like the flowers of the field; the grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of the Lord stands forever." And this is the word that was preached to you."

St. Johnís Anglican Church, is a warm Christian community, actively reaching out with a ministry of hope and healing to those in need of Godís love. Here, all are welcomed, supported and offered spiritual renewal.

St. Johnís Anglican Church turned 155 years old in 2011. The Rev. William Arthur Johnston began this ministry in 1856 when he gathered together an Anglican Church fellowship for worship and prayer in a local home in Weston.

The Rev. W. A. Johnston eventually built the ďChapel of EaseĒ which served a dual purpose, a gathering place for Anglican worship and the beginnings of a private boyís school. Trinity College School, Port Hope, traces itís origins to this chapel, developing from Father Johnstonís dream of creating a center of education in the northern reaches of Toronto. Later, the Chapel of Ease, pulled by ox cart to its present site, formed the wooden structure of the present day St. Johnís Church. The pews are the original pews designed to seat the children of the boyís school.

Through the years, St. Johnís, has responded to the developing and changing community of Weston. In the 1960ís and 1970ís the church served Weston with several services on a Sunday; offering Worship, Sunday School and Christian Education for the many families, children and teens who worshipped at St. Johnís.

St. Johnís continues to this day to serve as a center for Anglican worship. Changing demographics of Weston has brought many people of the Caribbean and the world to St. Johnís. We have opened our doors to a Ghanaian Anglican Congregation and our Korean brothers and sisters in Christ.

St. Johnís has a very strong local outreach ministry. We serve a growing number of lowĖincome clientele, offering a hot supper at our bi-weekly Thursday night community supper. We have been doing this every week for over 15 years!! Our programs include a monthly Senior's lunch and entertainment as well as Friday night euchres.
