Who we are
St. Stephen’s is the Church of England parish church in South Tonbridge. We are affiliated to the New Wine Network and strive to be:
• Biblical: we believe that the Bible is inspired by God and is therefore the basis of all our teaching.
• Spirit led: we believe that we are empowered by the Holy Spirit and look expectantly for his work in our lives.
• Christ-centred: we believe that we are to live Christ-centred, God honouring, prayerful lives individually and as a church.
Our purpose statement: St. Stephen’s seeks to be a church that is:-
Powered by the presence of God and shaped for the purposes of God.
These purposes are:
• To glorify God and minister in the power of the Holy Spirit – worship
• To serve others with the compassion, grace and generosity of Jesus – ministry
• To proclaim the good news of Jesus through words, work, and witness – evangelism
• To build a Christ-centred community that welcomes and accepts all – fellowship
• To grow in faith, love and knowledge of God and in the character of Jesus - discipleship

St Stephen's Church Service Times
Throughout the month we have a varied programme of family and celebration services, Holy Communion and baptism and thanksgiving services. Most Sundays have three services at St Stephen's.
Sunday 7.45am
Holy Communion
A traditional service using the Book of Common Prayer, without music.
Sunday 10.30am
Morning worship, Holy Communion or all-age service
A more informal, lively service, popular with families. About one service a month includes Holy Communion. The music is led by a small group of musicians and features contemporary worship songs with occasional well-known hymns. The congregation is invited to stay for coffee after the service.
Sunday 6.30pm
The Evening Service, occasionally with Holy Communion
A contemporary service with worship, led by a small band, teaching and ministry. Multimedia is often used as part of The Evening Service. Refreshments are served before and after this service.
As a fairly informal church, we tend not to follow a liturgy (the set services from the Church of England service book), except for Communion. All our services are Bible-based.
It's been more than 7 years since the last service times update. Please make sure to contact the church to confirm service times.

Open our ears to hear
Blessed Lord, open our ears to hear what Thou speakest and our eyes to see as Thou seest. Give us hearts to beat in sympathy with Thine at the sight of every little child; and above all, our Lord, to understand and experience how surely and how blessedly Thou fulfilest Thy promise, "Whoso shall receive one such little child in my name receiveth me."
