Celebration Community Church History
Celebration Community Church was begun on January 10, 1993 as a satellite of White Rock Community Church in Dallas. Twelve people met in a room above a church member’s garage, and later rented space from a Unitarian church in East Ft. Worth. Jerry Cook led the group until September of 1994, when Bill Prickett was called to serve. Prickett led the church until early 1998. On April 8, 1998, the 30 person congregation voted on leasing the current building at 908 Pennsylvania Avenue from the United Church of Christ.
It was at this time that the congregation determined there was a need to hire their very first full time pastor. On August 23, 1998 Reverend Carol West was called by the 35 person congregation to serve as the full time pastor of Celebration Community Church. John Rhodes, a member, volunteered to help Reverend West in the church office and together, they served as the entire staff. Reverend West has frequently stated she never would have survived leading the church in those early years had it not been for the assistance of John.
Led by Reverend West and an amazing Board of Directors, the church blossomed, expanding to include a wide variety of activities and ministries. In 2001, the congregation voted to purchase the building. Celebration finally had a home!
Reverend West retired on December 31, 2018 and Reverend Doctor Jorene Taylor Swift became our pastor in February of 2019.
Celebration has grown in membership, land and building space. A fourplex adjoining our property was purchased by members of our congregation, and it was subsequently donated to the church. Thanks to the wonderful assistance of Black Tie Dinner, the house was refurbished and now is the proud home of the Barron House Counseling Center. Our outreach also led us to plant a satellite church in Gun Barrel City, Celebration on the Lake.
We continue to expand our activities and ministries and have a strong, vibrant presence in Fort Worth. Celebration is indeed a church alive!

Teach us to serve Thee
Teach us, good Lord, to serve Thee as Thou deservest: To give and not to count the cost; To fight and not to heed the wounds; To toil and not to seek for rest; To labour and not ask for any reward, save that of knowing that we do Thy will.
