Who we are
If you’ve never been to Central, the best place to start is a Sunday morning worship service. These services are dynamic but reverent, and include praise and worship with Bible-based preaching. Each service includes an opportunity to connect with the people sitting nearest you. While community is important, we're not a social club or just another organization. We are a group of broken, flawed people who come together to make a big deal about Jesus, to have our hearts stirred and our thoughts challenged.
Adult Life Groups also meet on Sundays, and there are services and classes for all ages of students during both service times. Sign language, Spanish and Russian interpreters are available during the 10:30am service.
If you need some coffee or snack before or after service, stop by Coffee Central to purchase these items.

Leader Bio:
Pastor Loran Livingston enjoys the opportunity to help people see just how much Jesus loves them. He has led Central Church for more than four decades, and while times have certainly changed, the crux of his message has not – the truth of Scripture, the power of the cross and the greatness of grace.
He was born and raised in Anson County, North Carolina, where he grew up in a godly home. However, it was not until he was a student at Lee University that his life was dramatically changed by the love of Christ. Soon after, he married Sandra Weatherby, and together they began a life of ministry. In 1977, the young couple moved to Charlotte to pastor the newly-formed Central Church. As an engaging preacher and a master storyteller, Pastor has a way of not only bringing Scripture to life, but applying it to where people live. He’s bold and honest, and probably best loved for his transparency.
While Central’s congregation is beautifully diverse, and the challenges of the day are complex, Pastor Livingston constantly points to the one place where true hope is found – in Jesus Christ.
Pastor and Sandra have four daughters, three sons-in-law, and eight grandchildren.

Central Church Charlotte History
Where it all started
Central Church was chartered in January 1977. Reverend G. E. Weatherby was founding pastor, and four months later, Loran Livingston became pastor.
Beginning with a humble but dedicated membership of 19, no one could even imagine all that God had in store. Soon eight acres were purchased at Central Avenue and Kilborne in Charlotte, where the first metal building was constructed. But the building didn't stop there. As the Sunday morning worship services grew to 1,600 in attendance, the facilities were expanded three times from 1977 to 1988 to accommodate the growth.
Then, in 1988, the present property and facilities at Sardis Road were purchased, providing the capacity to grow to approximately 5,000 in attendance. But the richest part of Central's compelling history has always been its people – who throughout the years have learned that real strength is found in serving, and that only that which is done for Christ will last.
