Who we are
Central Presbyterian is a Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) congregation. This is the "mainline" Presbyterian denomination, making up over 2.6 million members in the United States. The Presbyterian Church is a representative form of government, which means we elect elders to govern the life of a local congregation. The word "Presbyterian" comes from the Greek word for "elder" and literally means "governed by elders." The Presbyterian Church originated with the theology of John Calvin and the Protestant reformers in Geneva, Switzerland in the 1500’s. Our heritage runs through Scotland and was influenced by John Knox. The first Presbyterian Church was founded in America in the 1700’s.
We are making Christ Central
There is life and excitement at Central. Though our history is long and rich, dating back to 1910, we are a church striving to be all Christ calls us to be for the future. Our motto is "Making Christ Central" and we seek to apply this motto in our worship and work. We believe Christ is calling us to - GATHER as God’s people, GROW as disciples, and GO into the world as ministers of Jesus Christ. These three simple verbs give us a pattern for our life together. We gather in worship and fellowship. We grow in discipleship through a variety of programs. We go into the world through local and global mission outreach and by inviting others to come grow with us.

Teach me
Teach me, O God, to use all the circumstances of my life to-day that they may bring forth in me the fruits of holiness rather than the fruits of sin. Let me use disappointment as material for patience: Let me use success as material for thankfulness: Let me use suspence as material for perseverance: Let me use danger as material for courage: Let me use reproach as material for longsuffering: Let me use praise as material for humility: Let me use pleasures as material for temperance: Let me use pains as material for endurance.
