What We Believe

God is 'spirit' and is eternal, with no time or physical limitations.

God is Triune in nature (as Father, Son & Holy Spirit) yet 'one'.

It is the nature of God to make Himself known to humanity.

The Bible, the Scriptures, are inspired by God (Holy Spirit) and are authoritative for life and practice.

The Scriptures reveal the nature of God, the will of God for humanity and God's 'plan of Salvation' for people through personal belief and acceptance of Jesus Christ's death for our sin and His resurrection.

All people are sinful by nature due to the disobedience of Adam and Eve, causing the separation of humanity from God, and personal disobedience to the will of God.

God is a personal being, revealing His Righteousness, truth, grace and forgiveness of sin to people through Jesus Christ, the Son.

Jesus Christ became God incarnate (in the flesh) revealing the will of God and the only way to God the Father through belief in Jesus' death on the cross for our sin.

Jesus Christ's work of redemption was accomplished in His death and resurrection, to redeem us from the guilt and power of sin and to free us form the rule of Satan.

Every person has the capacity to make moral choices, choosing good or evil, to obey or disobey God, and must individually choose to receive the gift of salvation and eternal life. No one can make this choice for someone else and each person is responsible for their own choices and destiny.

All believers are to be committed to growing into maturity, surrendering their lives to God's will and to a life of obedience to the Word of God (Scriptures). Believers are responsible to live in Godliness and holiness.

The Holy Spirit is given to indwell all believers upon their confession of the faith.

The Holy Spirit is vital for the believer’s growth, maturity and empowerment for service and ministry. The spirit gives spiritual gifts to equip believers for service.

Believers Baptism by immersion is an act of obedience, following confession of their faith, for all professing believers.

Jesus Christ will return for a second time (Second Coming) to rapture His Church.

Heaven is the eternal resting place for all believers. Hell is eternal place of punishment and condemnation for all unbelievers.

There will be a Day of Judgment for all people, believers and non-believers.

There will be a New Heaven and a New Earth under the rule of Christ.

The essential functions of the Lord’s Church are worship, fellowship, discipleship (teaching, preaching, training, discipline, encouraging, equipping) and mission.

Who are the Brethren in Christ? ​ Historically, we were part of the Brethren in Christ Church of Canada (since 1778). In May of 2017, our Canadian Conference voted on and accepted a new name, "Be In Christ Church of Canada". In order to be more relevant in our cultural time. Locally, here in Kindersley, we have shifted to using the name Clearview Community Church. We continue with the same doctrine and beliefs. The development of who the Be In Christ are today has been strongly influenced by three definite theological roots that are essantial to our understanding of God, the Scriptures and what it is to be a believer. The Anabaptist roots of the BIC extend back to the early 1500's to the time of the Protestant Reformation with a movement that felt Martin Luther did not go far enough in his proposed reformation. This group believed very strongly in the authority of the Scriptures, the need for the believer to conform all of life to the Lord's teachings as revealed in the Bible, the completely separate realms of the Lord's Church and the systems of the world, the importance of the Believers Baptism, and, the strong teaching of the discipleship (being different from the world). These beliefs led to persecution and death at the hands of the established churches of the day. The historical Be In Christ Church was to be significantly influenced by two other subsequent movements within Christendom: Pietism and Weslyanism. Pietism (1675 - early 1700's) placed strong emphasis on a warm, inner, personally experienced conversion and renewed the view that it was the Word of God, not the dogmas of the church, which was the source of doctrine and spiritual life. Pietism put the 'heart' back into religion. Weslyanism (1735 - late 1700's) emphasized the transformational work of the Holy Spirit (sanctification and holiness) and the need for a heart-felt total surrender in the life of the believer with a life transformation to a Godly lifestyle. All three of these above influences combined to shape the Brethren in Christ, who officially became a denomination in the year 1788 in the USA and in Canada. The Canadian Brethren in Christ settled in the peninsula area of Ontario, where most of the Canadian Conference churches still exist today. The Canadian Conference of the Brethren in Christ Church is associated with the United States Brethren in Christ Churches through the General Conference of the Brethren in Christ Church, although we maintain a separate identity due to the Revenue Canada guidelines. Today the Be In Christ Church strongly emphasizes - the need for a heart-felt personal salvation and conversion; the active need for the Holy Spirit to transform, guide, empower and teach believers; the authority of God's Word for life and practice; evangelism as necessity for the believers; discipleship of all believers into a mature Christian relationship; the importance of community and brotherhood; the priesthood of all believers (empowered laity). Historically the Be In Christ Church have been willing and able to absorb new ideas and spiritual truths, providing that they have a biblical basis. This helps to explain why the church has held together amazingly well - our tradition reminds us that the truth is in Jesus, not in our individual selves.

Beginnings of the Be In Christ in Kindersley

The government offered to provide land virtually free of charge to attract settlers to the Prairie Provinces. Such an opportunity brought settlers from Ontario and the United States to the Canadian West. In the spring of 1906 the District sent two of its officials to examine townships in Saskatchewan that were open for homesteads. They set out driving westward until, after several changes of direction, they eventually came to the Kindersley area. The favourable report of the two leaders encouraged members of the church to take up homesteads in the Kindersley area. The first service was on June 12th, 1907 conducted in a tent.

The church had a promising beginning. New Be in Christ settlers continued to come to the area even though it meant living at first in sod houses, working hard, and eating a limited diet The first services were held in a home with a meal after the service. A church building was constructed in 1911 in the Merrington District. In 1916, due to differences in doctrine, a church building was constructed in the west end of the district on a hill on the farm of one of its members, which was named Clearview. ​ In the late 1940's there began a process of farm consolidation that resulted in the decrease in the number of members living in the vicinity of the Church. The membership now increasingly came to reside in the town of Kindersley, and such membership found it difficult to travel the miles that the church at Clearview, particularly when rain made the roads virtually impassable. These factors persuaded the congregation to construct a church building in the town of Kindersley in 1953. The old Clearview building was eventually torn down. A fitting marker now stands at the location of the graveyard to commemorate the life and services of the congregation in that neighbourhood, as well as the original Merrington location.

In the 1990's the congregation in Kindersley outgrew the church building, so a new building was constructed at the present location on Main Street of Kindersley. The first service in that present location was November 1, 1998.

The church today is a very vibrant and growing congregation emphasizing a personal relationship with God through receiving Jesus Christ as Saviour and Lord committing oneself to growing spiritually and in character through worship, discipleship and fellowship.
