Who we are
Our Beliefs
We believe that our salvation comes through faith in Jesus Christ, the divine child of God. We believe that the Holy Spirit is the presence of God in our hearts and in our world who empowers the work of Christ among us. We believe that the Bible is the inspired word of God, and that it is to be our authority for all issues of faith, ethics and justice. We believe that we are compelled to make a serious commitment of our time, talents, treasure and prayer to the church, the body of Christ. We embrace all of the established doctrines and creeds of historic Christianity, and we celebrate diversity in how those truths are to be interpreted and applied.
We believe that Jesus Christ is our Lord and Savior, revealed in Holy Scripture, and sent into the world to show us the love of God. We do not insist upon total agreement regarding the fine points of biblical interpretation. We would rather be strengthened by the healthy exchange of ideas that represent our Christian diversity.
Our Mission
We have been Gathered by the Cross through the work of the Holy Spirit to worship and serve in faithfulness to Jesus Christ.

Community Church of Douglas History
Our History
Community Church was founded in 1965 by a group of Christians who came from a variety of faith traditions seeking to worship and serve God in unity. Our founders were determined to minimize denominational differences that too often divide believers, and to focus on the central Christian message that brings people together. We have been “Gathered By The Cross” through the work of the Holy Spirit to worship and serve in faithfulness to Jesus Christ. O God, make the door of this church wide enough to receive all who need human love and fellowship; narrow enough to shut out all envy, pride and strife. Make its threshold smooth enough to be no stumbling block to children, nor to straying feet, but rugged and strong enough to turn back the tempter’s power. Make the door of this church the gateway to Your eternal kingdom. Amen. (Thomas Ken, 1637-1711)

Grant me, O Lord...
Grant me, O Lord, to know what I ought to know,to love what I ought to love, to praise what delights Thee most, to value what is precious in Thy sight, to hate what is offensive to Thee. Do not suffer me to judge according to the sight of my eyes, nor to pass sentence according to the hearing of the ears of ignorant men; but to discern with a true judgment between things visible and spiritual, and above all, always to inquire what is the good pleasure of Thy will.
