Who we are
Mission statement:
The Congregational Church of South Dartmouth is a caring Christian community of people who come together to support the needs of a diverse congregation. Our dynamic and involved membership welcomes the participation and leadership of all to join us in our worship of God and in programs that strengthen our faith, families, and communities where we live. We envision an ongoing journey, open to all who wish to join us, to identify and inform ourselves about traditions and rituals practiced in other churches and faith communities that will strengthen the beliefs and practices we currently cherish at the same time that we open ourselves up to alternatives that may enhance the church life we hold so dear.
Open and affirming:
The Congregational Church of South Dartmouth is an open and affirming congregation and we proactively welcomes diversity, opening our hearts, minds and doors to any who seek to follow Christ. We believe that all people are children of God and that persons of every race, age, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, ethnic background, physical and mental ability, socioeconomic status, as well as other differences that mark each of us, are transparent in God’s love. We affirm all committed relationships that are based upon mutual trust, respect, responsibility, nurture and love. All are invited to participate fully in the life and ministry of our church as we seek to walk together as God’s faithful people.

Let no darkness overtake me
Visit, I beseech thee, O Lord, this habitation with thy mercy, and me with thy grace and salvation. Let thy holy angels pitch their tents round about and dwell here, that no illusion of the night may abuse me, the spirits of darkness may not come near to hurt me, no evil or sad accident oppress me; and let the eternal Spirit of the Father dwell in my soul and body, filling every corner of my heart with light and grace. Let no deed of darkness overtake me; and let thy blessing, most blessed God, be upon me for ever, through Christ our Lord. Amen.
