Who we are
Our Mission
The Northeast Texas District Church of the Nazarene exists to encourage and resource ministries through the local Churches of the Nazarene as well as to create new ministries and local fellowships in order to impact people with the life-changing power of Jesus Christ in Northeast Texas.
We are committed to carry out this mission through evangelism, discipleship, ministry, fellowship, and holiness all embraced by prayer.
Evangelism – We are committed to sharing the life-changing power of the Gospel so that others may know Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. Our efforts include personal evangelism training utilizing the “ABC’s of Evangelism,” revivals, camping and retreat ministries, and compassionate ministries. Discipleship – We will endeavor to make disciples through Sunday School classes (REACH), Bible studies, small group ministries, Dare-to-Care, The Master’s Plan, and membership classes. We purpose to build relationships with people and nurture new Christians in their Christian walk so that they will become fully functioning disciples and members of our local churches. Ministry – Every local church is a ministry center and every member a minister. Opportunities abound for ministries to all age groups through Sunday school, Nazarene Missions International, Nazarene Youth International, Scottsville Camp and Conference Center , Compassionate Ministry Centers, Work and Witness, but especially through the local church. Fellowship – Multiple opportunities are provided for Christian fellowship through our local, zone, mission area, district, regional, and international church events. Holiness – We are “called unto holiness.” We are called to be crucified with Christ, so that it is not us who lives but Christ living in us and through us reflecting His nature and pure love. We then are to have His heart and His mindset.

North/East Texas District Church of the Nazarene History
In the year 1890, the Church of the Nazarene as a denomination was totally unknown in Texas. From the early days of the denomination, God had a plan and purpose for the people called Nazarenes. The message of holiness, one that had social implications, burned in the hearts of early members. That passion is still alive and, in fact, has been revitalized in recent years. We have a hope-filled message that is a joy to share with people who are hungry for deeper meaning in life. Our mission is simply stated: “To make Christlike disciples in the nations.”
In the year 1908, the Dallas District Church of the Nazarene came into being at Pilot Point, Texas, as ordered by the first General Assembly. It reported at the end of that first year to the first District Assembly 952 members of the church and a total of $7,150 raised for all purposes.

I ask for...
I ask you neither for health nor for sickness, for life nor for death; but that you may dispose of my health and my sickness, my life and my death, for your glory... You alone know what is expedient for me; you are the sovereign master, do with me according to your will. Give to me, or take away from me, only conform my will to yours. I know but one thing, Lord, that it is good to follow you, and bad to offend you. Apart from that, I know not what is good or bad in anything. I know not which is most profitable to me, health or sickness, wealth or poverty, nor anything else in the world. That discernment is beyond the power of men or angels, and is hidden among the secrets of your providence, which I adore, but do not seek to fathom.
