Who we are
Our Beliefs
The church that meets in Ebenezer Gospel Hall is completely independant and although we have links to many other churches and Christian organisations our only headquarters are in Heaven
God
God is one - Father, Son and Holy Spirit God is all powerful, all knowing and ever present. God is holy - he cannot tolerate sin God is love - he loves everyone regardless of age, race or spiritual condition.
The Bible
The Bible is the authoritative word of God. It is the basis for life for the individual and for the church as a whole.
The Bible says of itself - "All Scripture is given by inspiration of God and is Profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness". 2 Timothy 3v16
The People
You are important to God and God wants your life to be meaningful and satisfying. Jesus said "I have come in order that you might have life, life in all its fullness". John 10v10
Everyone has fallen short of God's standards of morality. The Bible says that we all have sinned and that our sins cut us off from God. Romans 3v23, Isaiah 59v2
The result of our sin is punishment from God. The Bible says 'The wages of sin is death". Romans 6v23
God wants to forgive our sin and make us right with himself but we must ask for this forgiveness and commit ourselves to Him. The bible says 'Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved' Romans 10v13
God gives everyone who calls on Him the right to be part of His family and promises each one eternal life in heaven. The bible says 'the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord' Romans 6v23 and also 'to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God' John1v12
Jesus
Jesus is God, the Son. John 1 v 1 & 14
He came to earth from heaven; he died, was buried and rose again as predicted in the Old Testament. 1 Corinthians 15 v 3 & 4
He died on the cross to take the punishment for our sin. The Bible says "Christ died for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, to bring you to God." I Peter 3v18
Jesus is the only way back to God. Jesus said "I am the way and the truth and the life. No-one comes to the Father except through me." John 14v6
