Who we are
The First Baptist Church of Westerlo has served the community and our congregation for the last 200 years. The current 135 members represent generations of families who continue to grow and serve the Lord. We have been blessed with a facility that consists of a sanctuary, offices, many classrooms, a nursery, full size gym, and an industrial kitchen.
The Town of Westerlo is a rural community located approximately 25 miles southwest of Albany, nestled in the beautiful Hilltowns. The Town offers a library, post office, bank, deli, town park with ball fields, tennis courts, playground, and covered picnic area for its 3100 residents.
The purpose of this church is to:
Lead souls to Christ
Encourage young people called of God into Christian service
Build up the spiritual life of its members through the fellowship and the studying of the scriptures
Spread the gospel to the uttermost parts of the earth
The congregation by the aid of the Holy Spirit seeks to:
Walk together in Christian love and remember each other in prayer
Strive for the advancement of this church in knowledge and holiness.
Promote its prosperity and spirituality
Sustain its worship, ordinances, discipline, and doctrines
Give it a sacred preeminence over all institutions of human origin
Contribute cheerfully and regularly to the support of the ministry, the expenses of the church, the relief of the poor, and the spread of the Gospel through all the nations
The First Baptist Church of Westerlo strives to develop our congregation and reach our community through various ministries ranging from preschool through senior care. We support approximately 40 missionaries, many ministries and the starting of two churches in neighboring communities. In keeping with the spreading of the Gospel, we have raised up and sent out numerous members for global ministry.

First Baptist Church Service Times
Sundays are glorious at First Baptist Church as each week the body of Christ enthusiastically joins together in fellowship, study, worship and the Word. Please join us and take part in the many ministries that are available. We invite you to visit us on Sunday. Once a month, communion is celebrated.
Morning Worship Service: 9:30 am – 10:45 am
Evening Service: First Sunday of the month from 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm
Fellowship Time: 10:45 am – 11:15 am – Join us in the ARK (gym) for a time of fellowship and light refreshments.
Library: 10:45 am – 11:15 am – Our library collection consists of approximately 2,400 books for adults and children, as well as DVD’s, music CD's, Audio Books and Bible-based computer games.
Sunday School: 11:15 – 12:15 pm – Classes are available for all ages – nursery care is also available during this time.

Sonshine Christian Preschool believes in quality Christian education. Our program teaches basic preschool academics from a Christian perspective. Our preschool class is set up to encourage the children to develop a healthy love for learning
and prepare them for successful kindergarten entry in a fun and loving environment. Students who will be 4 years of age by December 1st of the applying school year are eligible to apply and will be enrolled on a first come, first served basis.
If you are considering enrolling your child, we will be glad to send you our school packet, which contains all the information you would need. Please feel free to call the church office @ 797-3927, or send us an email at [email protected]

The youth group at First Baptist Church exists to invite teens to: Meet Jesus, Know Jesus, and Follow Jesus, to do a 180 with their lives, dying to self in order to live for Christ! We offer many opportunities for teens from grades 6-12 to gather and grow in their relationship with God and with each other. Our regular youth group gathering, 180, currently meets on Saturday evenings from 6-8 at the church.
