Who we are
The mission of the First United Brethren Church is to effectively communicate the gospel of Christ by word and deed toward the end that people will be saved and become faithful disciples of Christ and responsible members of His church.
“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always even to the end of the age. Amen”
Matthew 28:19,20

Leader Bio:
Marc Stephenson, was born & raised in Oil City, PA along with his 2 older brothers. In his youth, he was involved in many things: cub scouts, boy scouts, lifeguarding, track & field & music. In 1991, on a Friday night, Marc surrendered his heart to God at a Billy Graham Crusade. But it wasn’t until 1994, when the relationship with Jesus truly began while camping at Seneca Hills Bible Camp. Over the next several God began to mold and shape Marc’s heart for an adventure no one ever expected.
Marc attended IUP (Indiana University of PA) to study music. There he met Sue and they were married in July 1999. While at IUP, God placed a call on Marc’s heart to pursue ministry. Marc graduated from IUP in 1997 and responded to God’s call. In the fall of 1998, he attended Evangelical Theological Seminary in Myerstown, PA. Over the next few years, they spent many nights with Marc writing papers & Sue proof reading them. All the while, Marc & Sue worked full time and spent their date nights “People watching” at the Park City Mall, Lancaster, PA while sharing a Cinnabon. Marc graduated with his Masters of Divinity in 2003.
Through the years, Marc has been involved in youth ministry and he still loves seeing youth grow in their walks with Jesus Christ. After 12 years in youth ministry, Marc followed the Holy Spirit and accepted a Lead Pastor role in Chambersburg, PA. Marc has never seen this as a “step up” from youth ministry, but a lateral shift. Now, in this season of life, they enjoy seeing many of our former youth raising their own families.
Marc & Sue have 4 growing children: Isaiah, Bekah, Alycn, & Ariyah. Together as a family, they enjoy playing games, camping, being outside, riding bikes, sledding, and well, … just being a family. In January of 2019, the Holy Spirit opened the door for Marc & the family to move to New Castle, PA where Marc accepted the Lead Pastor position at First UBiC Church. It has been an amazing blessing to be a part of the First UB family and to do life together. Seeing the move of the Holy Spirit through His people has been amazing to be a part of!

Recent recommendations from the CDC have prompted us to make the difficult decision to make a change in the way we do “church” this weekend. It is indeed a great sacrifice, but in seeking the Lord, I believe it is the best and most loving option. On Sunday, March 22, we will not be meeting physically at 1900 Eastbrook Rd, instead, we will be moving worship to an online format. We’re not cancelling church-we’re changing it. For those of you with Facebook accounts you can join us live Sunday morning at 10:30 AM. For those of us that don’t use Facebook, simply join us by clicking on the YouTube link located on our website, firstub.org. This is new for us. Even though the format is different, many are working to ensure that our First United Brethren Family will worship the Lord together this weekend!

Abide with us
O Holy Spirit of God, abide with us; inspire all our thoughts; pervade our imaginations; suggest all our decisions; order all our doings. Be with us in our silence and in our speech, in our haste and in our leisure, in company and in solitude, in the freshness of the morning and in the weariness of the evening; and give us grace at all times humbly to rejoice in Thy mysterious companionship.
