Who we are
We are proud to be the United Presbyterian Church of Fort Morgan. Our church is a light on the hill, welcoming all, encouraging each other to grow spiritually, and empowering ourselves to glorify and lovingly serve our Lord Jesus Christ.
UPChurch is a vibrant congregation of committed disciples. We are not a social club. This is where seekers come to deepen their faith through studying God’s word, worshipping, building relationships of trust, and most importantly – getting our hands dirty helping Christ usher in his kingdom. This congregation has played a foundational role in various ministries of compassion in Fort Morgan, and continues to seek new opportunities to show God’s love for the world to our members, and to every person in need we meet.
We have several small, but active, organized groups in our church. We pray for each other and enjoy the fellowship. We share and definitely look forward to our potluck dinners. Good cooks, good organ and choral music, good study groups and a thriving preschool are perhaps the long-standing hallmarks of the United Presbyterian Church of Fort Morgan.

It is such a privilege to be serving United Presbyterian Church in Ft. Morgan as the Commissioned Pastor. Life has come full circle in this commissioning. I grew up in the First Presbyterian Church and made the move to the merger when I was in school.
When I returned to Ft. Morgan after college Mary (wife) and I settled into the church and began teaching youth group classes to Middle and High school aged students.
Then in 1998 I was Commissioned for the first time to UPC. But I did not stay in the church very long, I was invited by other churches to fill their pulpits and when appropriate administer the sacraments.
In 2001 I was invited by Rankin Presbyterian Church in Brush, to be their temporary pulpit supply. The temporary label finally dropped and I have been serving there ever since.Last year with my teaching career coming to a close the Interims Sam and Janice Adams along with the congregations of Brush and Ft. Morgan began discussing the possibility of a “yoked parish.”
After several months of prayer and discernment the Committee on Ministry gave their blessing to begin this wonderful adventure on June 4, 2017. It has almost been a year since we have “yoked” the two congregations. We have a service in each church on Sundays with one service at 9:00 a.m. and the other service at 11:00 a.m. This next month we will decide on a permanent schedule for our services.
I mentioned earlier that I was a teacher. I taught Special Ed, Social Studies and Physical Education and Health during my teaching career with most of those years at Ft. Morgan High School. I also coached several different sports football, basketball, baseball and golf. I graduated with my B.A. from Western State College (now university) in 1987 and a M.A. from UNC in 1994.
My wife Mary and I have been married since 1987. We have three children Aaron born in 1992, Danielle in 1994 and Elizabeth in 2004. Aaron and his fiancé are expecting our first grandchild in October of 2018.

The way, the truth, and the life
Lord Jesus, thou who art the way, the truth, and the life; hear us as we pray for the truth that shall make all free. Teach us that liberty is not only to be loved but also to be lived. Liberty is too precious a thing to be buried in books. It costs too much to be hoarded. Help us see that our liberty is not the right to do as we please, but the opportunity to please to do what is right.
