Leader Bio:
Pastor John Wise was born the eighth of ten children and raised in a Roman Catholic home. He was converted to Christ at age 15, and yet it took many years before he was introduced to and then convinced of the Reformed faith as being the most accurate understanding of the Scriptures. John worked for 6 years as a Registered Nurse, followed by 26 years in the practice of Oral/Maxillofacial Surgery. The Lord called him to sell his private surgical practice and enter into full-time ministry. The next several years were spent as a ruling elder in the OPC in his home state of MD while studying at RTS-Wash DC. He was awarded the MDiv. and the call came to pastor the people of Grace OPC in Battle Mountain, NV. He has been married to Farrah for 23 years and they have twin daughters, Alexis and Alyssa. Â

Grace Orthodox Presbyterian Church History
Grace OPC in Battle Mountain, NV began as a Bible study meeting in homes in the years between 1983 and 1987. Three men (Ivor McKeown, Richard Gollobit, and Brad Kelly) helped teach and lead several families who joined the Bible study over the years. By 1987 under the oversight of the PNCN and Ivor McKeown (who had become a ruling elder at Covenant OPC in Berkley, CA.) the group began to meet at its current location. The summer of 1988 saw Rev. Bob Graham come to Battle Mountain as its organizing Pastor. He was followed in the summer of 1989 by Rev. Bob Sanders. In 1990 the church was particularized with Rev. Brian Nicholson as its first pastor installed. The congregation has changed over the years and yet, there remains a core of faithful original members still present to this day (Cox, Aten, Reaksecker families). Grace OPC just ordained and installed their ninth pastor on May 7, 2021.

Forgive us
O God, forgive the poverty and the pettiness of our prayers . Listen not to our words but to the yearnings of our hearts. Hear beneath our petitions the crying of our need.
