Grace United Church Service Times
At present we have one service per Sunday, a rotation schedule; one at 9:30 am, 11:00 am or 7:00 pm. The evening service will sometimes include a pre-sing, commencing at 6:45.The 11:00 service is a children’s service, which the children are actively involved in.

We have a very active Sunday School program. They typically meet at 11:00 AM on Sunday mornings from September - May. Children of all ages are welcome. Come along and bring your parents, grandparents, or other family members! Â

Hello friends and greetings from Grace United Pastoral Charge. Just a few words to let you know about our church…
We are a growing congregation with members coming from all around the Bay Roberts area, as well as Clarke’s Beach and Spaniard’s Bay. We are happy to welcome new- comers and provide a place where they can feel right at home.
Our church at Coley’s Point has been established since 1907, at that time it was Methodist and replaced a building known as "The Meeting House" situated near the church. The Minister of that day, Rev. Allan Birchenough, reporting to the Methodist Greeting wrote:
"The old building has served its day and generation well, but the time has come when the material building must cease to be and give place to one more adequate. Last week the men of the congregation, free of cost, put the foundations in preparation for the commencement of building operations in the Spring. They are also proposing to haul heavy lumber out of the woods, suitable for framework. The good folk of Coley's Point are full of keen enthusiasm. We feel like exclaiming with Nehemiah, "The people have a mind to work..."
And so, on February 28, 1909 the church at Coley's Point was officially dedicated by Dr. Mark Fenwick, President of the Methodist Conference with the sermon delivered by Dr. Levi Curtis.
The church underwent renovations over the years with two major ones occurring in 1951 and 1970. In 1951, under the ministry of Rev. Naboth Winsor, the porch on the west side was removed and a gallery added. In 1970, under the ministry of Rev. Clarence Stanford, there were further changes to the interior and new pews added to allow for a seating capacity of 250.
In 1957, space was excavated beneath the church to accommodate a new oil furnace replacing two coal and wood stoves. A washroom, PA system and a piano were also added. While the church was an excellent house for worship, it did not provide space for Christian Education groups, and social activities for the congregation. For these purposes, the congregation had to use Coley's Point School.
Over the years, numbers grew, the church was small and since it had no hall, changes had to be made. Plans were put in place, and a new church hall was built on Kelly's Road to meet the needs of the growing congregation. This hall, which opened in October 1988, is now part of the current facility. In 1996, the old church on Neck Road was closed, and services were held at the Hall while plans were being made to replace the old sanctuary.
Our dream of a new building with modern conveniences came true in December, 1999. Beside a sanctuary that can accommodate 250 people, a folding door partition opens to a large auditorium. The auditorium is used throughout the year for Sunday School, Youth Groups, Vacation Bible School, Fellowship meetings and many other church activities. We have recently added a two-unit video projection system to our sanctuary which is used during weekly services to enhance the experience for our congregation. Through a partnership with EastlinkTV, our services are aired monthly across the province as part of the Avalon Inspirational Hour, a process initiated by the late Lloyd Parsons.
