Who we are
We are a Christian Non-denominational church based in Modesto CA. We teach a very simple and normal Christianity that allows the believer to grow and operate in the Power of the Holy Spirit yet at the same time grow and mature with a solid Biblical understanding. We welcome you and ask you to feel free to join us each week as we continually upload our weekly bible studies and Sunday services. God bless you. We have a seat with your name on it.

Leader Bio:
Pastor David planted the House of Rest church in 2011, all from a vision from God while incarcerated in Federal prison. Growing up in a Christian home, David followed his own way until he surrendered his life to Christ on Feb 25th 2004. While serving an 8 year sentence, he felt the calling to preach and share the gospel. So through correspondence he enrolled in CLU (Christian Leadership University) and graduated with a degree in biblical studies. After serving 6 years he was released in 2010 and a year later, planted House of Rest. Since then the church has grown from a house church with 22 chairs, to what it is now.
David and Sharon married in 2017 and have continued to minister together. Sharon has served in many ministries over the years. They look forward for what the Lord has in store for the lives of those that they minister to.
A big part of who they are is teaching to live out of a naturally supernatural lifestyle. With a big influence on teaching believers their identity of who they are in Christ, and living out of that identity with demonstrations of healing, deliverance and a Holy Spirit filled transformation.
Pastor David is credentialed with Grace International.

5:30 prayer at the church `1231 7th Street, Modesto Ca then at
6:00 pm meet at the parking lot on I st and 9th Street. This ministry is a collaboration between Thru Christ Ministries (Eli Contreras) & House of Rest Church Modesto.
Wednesday Bible Study 7:00 pm
Each week we gather together to read through the Scriptures. It is an interactive Bible Study that slowly reads through books of the Bible. We have a seat with your name on it.
Friday Bible Study 7:00 pm

This is an exhaustive bible study with deep searches for the meanings of words, culture and customs described in the Bible.

House of Rest Church History
Even though House of Rest was founded in May of 2011, it was conceived in the heart of Pastor David while serving an eight year sentence in Federal Prison.
Having been raised in a Christian home, he grew up to rebel from God and follow his own path. This path led to an eventual prison sentence and it was there, while in solitary confinement, that David could no longer run away from God. After years of living recklessly and being arrested, he finally surrendered to Christ on Feb 25th, 2004.
After being transferred from Terminal Island Federal corrections, he was sent closer to home in Atwater CA. It was there that he enrolled in CLU and earned a degree in Biblical studies. In a dream, he was given the name, House of Rest by the Lord and the idea was born.
After serving six years from his eight year sentence, He was released in 2010. He quickly began planning to fulfill the vision the Lord had given to him. Soon after he was credentialed with Grace International and the church began with his parents and a few friends as the congregation.
In 2017, pastor David was married to Sharon Mendoza and they have both pastored the House of Rest along with Pastor Al and Lydia Bejarano
House of Rest has become a training ground for so many in walking in their Identity in Christ, which has led to miracles, physical healing, salvation and demonic deliverance. The sermons are grounded in New man & New Covenant teachings that are found in the inspired Word of God.
