Who we are
Hobart Central Church is a cross-cultural church located in the heart of the city of Hobart on the corner of Elizabeth and Brisbane Streets. It was planted in 2005 as a Korean congregation by Pastor Paul J B Kim and his wife Young Sook Lee. With a heart to reach all people, we now have both English and Korean language services attended by people from many cultures. All are welcome to join us as we worship the Lord Jesus Christ together. We are a ‘grand daughter’ of Yeouido Full Gospel Central Church, Seoul, South Korea and also an affiliate of Australian Christian Churches (formerly Assemblies of God).

Leader Bio:
Following a successful career in business in South Korea, Pastor Paul responded to a call to plant a church in Hobart. After graduating with a Bachelor of Ministry from Alphacrucis College, Sydney, he was sent to Tasmania by Pastor Woosung Chung of the Sydney Korean Full Gospel Church, arriving in January 2005. Meetings commenced on Sunday afternoons in what is now Tabor College then in 2009 the present church building was purchased. Pastor Paul has a vision to see a multicultural church with a congregation full of Korean, Australian and other nationalities. Young Sook is totally committed to the mission of the church, excelling in hospitality. Paul and Young Sook have two children and two grandchildren.

Korean Service
Our Korean service is held at 11:00 am every Sunday except the first of each month. Pastor Paul Kim is the regular preacher with a strong Bible-teaching gift. Hospitality follows this service with a lunch of Korean cuisine.

Sunday School / Children and Youth Activities
Under 18s:
Youth Services
Youth Service
From 7:00 pm every Friday night, we have a worship service for youth consisting of a diversity of Gospel songs with short but strong inspiring messages. We have intercession prayers for pending issues and our nation, city, churches and missionaries, as well as own personal requests. After the service we have pleasant fellowship with Korean food.
Student Support
Our church focuses on outreach to students and encourages them to lead Christian lives. We always open our facilities for students’ convenience for study, music, internet and socialising. We have a long term plan to find a good scholarship to support our future world class Christian leaders for not only Korean ministry but also multi-cultural missions. This program will be promoted with our Vision Centre under Pastor Richard Martin’s leadership.
Youth Connect Group
Our church has three vibrant youth cell groups. New members joining the youth group do a 4 week foundation course. After that they will be allocated a cell group of their choice. Anyone wanting to be a cell leader should complete the Leadership Training Course. The Youth Group’s main activity is Bible Study on Sunday afternoon. On Friday night the youth leaders have Bible Study with Pastor Paul for leading their own group the following Sunday.

The way, the truth, and the life
Lord Jesus, thou who art the way, the truth, and the life; hear us as we pray for the truth that shall make all free. Teach us that liberty is not only to be loved but also to be lived. Liberty is too precious a thing to be buried in books. It costs too much to be hoarded. Help us see that our liberty is not the right to do as we please, but the opportunity to please to do what is right.
