Who we are
Our Vision
Our goal is to call people to a personal faith in Jesus Christ and to live a life that gives evidence of that faith. As followers of Jesus, we strive to be the living presence of Christ, by reaching out to our local friends in ways that heal, teach and love them. We invite you to join us here in our rural ministry of Jesus in our small corner of the world.

Lakeview Mennonite Church History
Begun by families moving to the area in search of dairy farms during the late 1950's, Gelatt Mennonite Church began with a 'song service' and two weeks of Bible School during July in 1957. The church assumed it's present location here in lakeview in 1963.
Our current membership is made up of a fine mixture of those origional 'pioneers' and those 'locals' who have since joined the church. We are the Lakeview Mennonite Church.
Who Are the Mennonites?
The Mennonite Churh, one of the oldest denominations in North America, began in Zurich, Switzerland in 1525. A group of earnest young believers said that protestant reformers had not gone far enough. They attempted to recover New Testament christianity by appealing to the authority of scripture and the example of Jesus rather than the decrees of the state-sponsered church. The movement grew rapidly, although thousands suffered persecution and death at the hands of the state. Today Mennonites are in 60 countries around the world. They continue to strees following Christ daily in life, sharing the good news of wholeness in Christ, serving those in need and working for justice and peace.

Lord Jesus, thou who art the way, the truth, and the life; hear us as we pray for the truth that shall make all free. Teach us that liberty is not only to be loved but also to be lived. Liberty is too precious a thing to be buried in books. It costs too much to be hoarded. Help us see that our liberty is not the right to do as we please, but the opportunity to please to do what is right.
