Who we are
St. JOHN'S: A new way of being …
Shalom is completeness, wholeness and well-being felt in body, mind and spirit. Shalom comes from a passionate relationship to God through Jesus Christ.
We seek shalom for our journeys in relationship to others. We share all that gives life to each of us in community – time, food, connection, family, experiences and prayer. We talk, eat, laugh, sing, drink coffee, pray and praise together. We don’t all agree with each other but we learn from and about each other.
Shalom calls us to share as much as we can to bring the peace of Christ and the reign of God closer during our time in this place. We offer help by supporting local outreach ministries at the nearby hosptial and local Youth Shleter, by historically supporting a school in Guatemala and a University in Haiti and by rasing funds for social justice ministries of the Diocese of Toronto and the emergency relief efforts of the Primate's World Relief & Development Fund.
St. JOHN'S: A new way of doing Sunday morning … Shalom is why we gather each Sunday at St. JOHN'S. We don’t have all the answers and we love to interact with people who ask questions.
We use time-honoured customs and tools of our Christian faith tradition to seek God and to share and express meaning and purpose for our lives. Our gathered worship of word and sacrament equips us to work in the world in ways that help to build Christ's kingdom beyond our walls. Worship also allows us to offer our efforts in prayer and sacrifice to the Lord we gather to praise and to experience in the Blessed Sacrament.
St. JOHN'S: A new way of living … We also strive to share shalom in living at home, at work and at play – with family, co-workers, friends and everyone we meet in witness to the transforming love of God in Jesus for every person.

Parish of St.JOHN'S CHURCH East Orangeville History
Let no darkness overtake me
Visit, I beseech thee, O Lord, this habitation with thy mercy, and me with thy grace and salvation. Let thy holy angels pitch their tents round about and dwell here, that no illusion of the night may abuse me, the spirits of darkness may not come near to hurt me, no evil or sad accident oppress me; and let the eternal Spirit of the Father dwell in my soul and body, filling every corner of my heart with light and grace. Let no deed of darkness overtake me; and let thy blessing, most blessed God, be upon me for ever, through Christ our Lord. Amen.
