Who we are
We are a family of Christian people who want to uphold the Bible in its entirety as God's Word and in doing that we proclaim Jesus Christ as the only true Saviour of God's people and the rejoice in the glories of His Kingship.
God called His people in Jesus Christ and set us apart to be holy in Him. Even before the foundation of the world He did this. He also adopted His children through Jesus Christ, not because any of them deserved it; He did so because He had pleasure in doing so. His purpose for the Church is that we will praise the glories of His grace (Ephesians 1:3-10).
Our desire at St Andrews is that God will teach us to praise the glories of His grace, and that He will add to His Church those He ordained to eternal life. We long for Him to use us to do good works in Jesus Christ His Son in order to accomplish His holy purposes through being faithful witnesses of His grace!
Our aim is to be a W.E.L.L. church:
W - Worship > We desire to worship God His way
E - Evangelism > We desire to reach out to the world with the Gospel of Jesus Christ
L - Loving > We desire to love and care for one another as Christ loves us and cares for us
L - Learning > We desire to be equipped from the Word of God to become mature in Christ, fit for service to one another and the wider world.
St Andrews is a presbyterian church > Elders (presbyters) have the task of ruling the church.
St Andrews is a reformed church> We adhere to the understanding of the Bible which the leaders of the Protestant Reformation put forward and see ourselves as as those who need to continue to worship and serve God as they did.
We strongly believe that all believers are in some way gifted by the Holy Spirit to contribute to the work and functioning of the church as a body.
St Andrews is a branch of the Presbyterian Church of Australia under the State Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of Queensland, and is under the jurisdiction of the Presbytery of North Queensland.
We adhere to the Bible as the supreme standard of life and faith. The Bible is the Word of God, and as such it is infallible and inerrant. Our understanding of the Bible is contained in the Westminster Confession of Faith.
