Our Aim
At The Gathering Place Church, where faith and friendship meet, we are here to build up people to seize God's vision for their life! While joyfully living out God’s Word in unity and fellowship, we value the power of prayer and discipleship, growing together as a friendly and spiritually passionate people.
Our Ministry Pathway includes:
REACHING OUT through evangelism (Mark 16:15)
RESTORING through community (1 John 1:7)
REFINING through discipleship (Matthew 28:18-20)
RELEASING through ministry (Ephesians 4:11-12)
The Gathering Place is part of a much bigger global family of believers known as the Foursquare Church. Started in 1923 by Aimee Semple McPherson in Los Angeles, Foursquare grew in 65 short years to 15,000 churches throughout 63 countries. As of 2011, we are joined with 8,729,566 other members in 66,145 churches in 141 countries.

After studying Biblical Theology at Life Pacific College he was mentored at The Highlands Church in Palmdale by Pastor Ken Hart. Bobby is passionate about bringing people to Jesus and teaching the Bible in ways that really connect with people. On his days off you can find him skateboarding, hanging out with his wife/BFF Becky, and taking his daughters to the park.

Sunday School / Children and Youth Activities
Under 12s:
Our Children’s Ministry Programs takes place on Sundays from 9:30-10:45am. They cover a group of ages including infant, toddlers, and children in the 1st through 5th grades. Consider arriving 5-10 minutes before service begins so that you can get your children signed into their class and have an opportunity to meet their Sunday School Teacher.
Sometimes parents prefer to keep their children with them during the service so they can learn together, as a family, from the pastor’s teaching. We love that! So consider our Children’s Ministry Program just one quality resource to help you accomplish the spiritual care that is right for your children and your family.
The nursery is a safe and pleasant place for our precious babies to be cared for during our ministry times. The nursery is attended by one of our friendly background-checked staff. We welcome any special instructions you may have for our nursery workers regarding the preferred care for your child – so that you can feel at peace and comfortable during your service experience.
Our Children’s Ministry Program utilizes current Gospel Light Curriculum. It’s a resource that will help your child learn key bible stories from both the Old and New Testaments. Be assured they’ll be able to learn about Jesus in a fun and interactive way that will help them grow in a personal relationship with Him. Our ministry philosophy for children is impacted by the realization that every child is unique and special in the eyes of God. They learn in different ways and at different paces. Therefore they will experience large group & small group times during the lesson. We also make learning fun and give them opportunities to use their hands and imaginations.
Your child’s safety is at the forefront of our minds! Our staff have passed through interviews with our Children’s Ministry Coordinator, have had their backgrounds checked, and have received appropriate training on Child Safety Procedures. If you have any questions about our policies we welcome the conversation – because your children matter to God and to us!

The Gathering Place History
Can you imagine trying to fit more than 60 people in your house every Sunday? That's precisely what happened to Pastors Phil and Donna Jones after they began a Bible study in their home for fellow, local business owners and neighbors in September, 1989. This grass-roots beginning of The Gathering Place Church grew exponentially beyond their wildest imagination, with 120 people attending Easter and Christmas services!
Easter 1993 marked the official opening of Folsom's first Foursquare Church at 330 Plaza Drive in Folsom. God miraculously opened the door for us to purchase our entire property, a former Chrysler car dealership. Shortly after the new millennium, with the facility paid in full, build-out began, and the back structures were transformed into our current sanctuary and Christian education facilities.
The Gathering Place had the privilege of influencing and resourcing thirty seven Foursquare churches in Northern California during the time Pastor Phil and Donna also served as District Supervisors. For seven years, this exciting season allowed us to host conferences, training, and facilitate women's and youth retreats for hundreds of people in our Foursquare family.
In the beginning of 2012, Pastor Bobby and Becky Key were welcomed as our new lead pastors. They have a heart to see untold numbers of people come to know Jesus and embrace God's vision for their lives. Bobby and Becky are honored to be part of such a wonderful church with a great history, and they are extremely optimistic about what the Lord has in store for The Gathering Place and our community!
