Who we are
TCBC stands for Toronto Chinese Baptist Church. That’s the official title. That’s who we are. That’s what gets put on the sign outside, the government registry and that’s where you find us in the telephone book.
TCBC also stands for Trust, Connect, Build, Care. That’s who we. Or more precisely, that’s who we try to be. We are a church that strives to be a community committed to worshiping the Triune God: Creator, Redeemer & Sustainer, the God revealed in the Bible and most clearly in Jesus Christ.
When the church gathers, as a congregation or in smaller groups, our goal is to grow together in our understanding of faith, serve the local community in the name of Jesus and enjoy the friendship and fellowship of others as we journey through life together.
We believe in the value of partnerships and of interdenominational cooperation. TCBC is a member of the Baptist Convention of Ontario and Quebec and is in partnership with the Toronto Area Association of Baptist Churches.
We welcome you to our community and invite you to get involved in the ministries that happen here throughout the week and on Sundays.

Toronto Chinese Baptist Church Service Times
As of September 19th, 2021, we have re-started our in-person Worship Services!!
In order to maintain social distancing protocols, we have moved the English services from TCBC to nearby St George the Martyr Church located at 30 Stephanie Street. The Cantonese and Mandarin Congregations will hold their Sunday Worship Services at the Beverley Street Church.
Service begins at 10 AM every Sunday. For the safety of all attendees have implemented the following protocols:
As of December 5th, we are no longer asking people to pre-register for in-person service. Instead, we will be requiring everyone over the age of 18 to show government issued proof of vaccination certificates or the related QR code. We will also accept valid medical exemption documents for those that are unable to be vaccinated.
You must wear a mask while inside the church and in the church courtyard
Attendees will be seated observing proper distancing, however, families will be seated together
We request that you arrive early to service to allow the ushers to check you in and seat you before service begins.
If you are unable to join us in person, will continue to LiveStream, the service over our YouTube channel. You will be able to find a link to the LiveStream on our Sermons page.
It's been more than a year since the last service times update. Please make sure to contact the church to confirm service times.

Toronto Chinese Baptist Church History
In 1967, a core group of 3 families began praying and planning to launch a church in the Toronto Chinatown area. The first Chinese worship was in November, with 12 in attendance. Andrew Wong became the pastor of TCBC in 1968 and served as the senior pastor until 2008.
The English ministry began as an overflow of the original Cantonese speaking congregation. The bi-lingual service began (Cantonese-English) and eventually became an English only service. Our congregational look and style is inter-generational and increasingly inter-cultural.
You will have no problem attending the English Worship service if you only speak English. There have been 5 pastors of the English congregation and all were raised and educated in North America. In other words, our pastors didn’t know how to speak Chinese either!
Our current pastor Rev. Nolan Lee served as our 4th English ministry pastor in the years 1999-2008. He went on to serve as the pastor of West End Baptist Church in Halifax for 5 years and returned in 2013. He was ordained in the Convention Baptists of Ontario and Quebec in 2003. He married Pam the very next year and together they have 2 daughters, both born in Toronto.
In October 2017, TCBC celebrated their 50th Anniversary of serving the Lord in the Chinatown neighbourhood. A short video was created for the Anniversary Banquet with a short history of the church and highlighting the church fellowships and activities.

"I would rather train twenty men to pray, than a thousand to preach; A minister's highest mission ought to be to teach his people to pray."
