In 1999 Mykal moved to Orlando Florida to complete a ministry training program known as Master’s Commission and serve as a Student Ministry intern. While living there he met Amanda and in 2001 they were married and moved to Elkton MD where Mykal was a full time Student Ministry pastor at First Assembly of God. After living in Florida the change to four seasons was a welcome one and both Mykal and Amanda quickly fell in love with the area.
Despite their passion for the region, in June of 2004 they felt God leading them to a new church in Jacksonville Florida where again they served as Student Ministry pastors but God was up to something even bigger than that. Over the course of their first few years in ministry both Mykal and Amanda had grown to believe that the local Church could and should be one of the most exciting and important experiences in a persons life. In January of 2005, their ideals became a reality when they experienced a life-giving church for the first time at Celebration Church.
While attending and serving at Celebration God began to cultivate a desire in their hearts to come back to the area where they first started in ministry together and plant a life-giving church. As the dream began to grow, the doors began to open and soon they learned of the Association of Related Churches, an organization committed to equipping and supporting life-giving church plants all over the country.
In October of 2010 it was finally time to get started. A job opening in Newark, DE allowed the family to move back to the area and officially begin the work of launching True Life Church. Together with their children Sarah and Ben, Mykal and Amanda extend an invitation to you and your family to come alongside the True Life launch team and be a part of a different kind of church, one that is committed to a culture of authenticity, acceptance and relevance, and one that will reach hundreds and thousands of lives throughout our region with the life-giving message of Jesus Christ.
Working closely with the Association of Related Churches and a network of local and national churches, Mykal, Amanda, Sarah, and Ben are leading a team of people committed to seeing the launch of a life-giving church in the greater Newark Delaware area.

Services start at 9:30 am and 11:30 am every Sunday. Come on in and grab a free cup of coffee, enjoy the relaxed atmosphere, and see if this is the church for you.
If you are visiting for the first time, we will not embarrass you, have you stand up, or ask you to give money. We know that many people want to check out the church and “be anonymous” and that’s fine with us!
We offer creative, exciting programs for children from birth – 5th grade during each service. Our loving team members teach biblical values that will help you build a strong foundation of faith for your kids to grow on. We have four distinct areas for children: nursery (0 to 12 months), tots (1 to 2 years), preschool & kindergarten, and elementary school (1st to 5th grade).

At True Life Church, there is no dress code. We believe God cares more about the condition of your heart than your outward appearance. Feel free to dress up, or come in jeans and your favorite t-shirt, whatever makes you comfortable.

In 2006 after nearly a decade in ministry to youth and young adults, Pastor Mykal and Amanda experienced something that would forever change their lives and their path in ministry. That “something” was a life-giving church. It was a place where imperfect people could learn how to follow a perfect savior in community together.
It was during their five years at Celebration Church in Jacksonville, FL that they felt God calling them to plant a life-giving church in the Newark, DE area. After much prayer, counsel, and training from Celebration and The Association of Related Churches, their family moved to the area in late 2010 and immediately went to work building a team of people who shared their vision for a life-giving church in the region.
Today hundreds of people have experienced True Life Church services, events and small groups, and we continue to see growth on a weekly basis. God is at work at True Life. We invite you to see for yourself how exciting church can be when the focus is simple and people are free to go after God with passion!

Our purpose is simple and based on the Great Commission found in Mark 16:15-20. We exist to lead people into a life-giving relationship with Jesus Christ and to become fully devoted followers of him.
