Our Mission
Water's Edge Church exists to make disciples through gospel-centered teaching, gospel centered community, and gospel-centered service.
** Our mission statement not only communicates the mission of WEC (to make disciples), it also reveals our strategy: through gospel-centered teaching, gospel-centered community, and gospel-centered service. We think of these as three distinct environments; A worship service, a community group, and a ministry to serve.
Our Vision
To be a church that is most passionate about what is most important.
** We want that to ring true at WEC. We are continually striving to be a church that is most passionate about what is most important. This begs the question as to what is most important? Here’s how the Bible lays that out for us:
The Great Commandment:
“You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself” (Matt 22:37-39).
The Great Commission:
“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you” (Matt 28:19-20).
The Gospel Message:
“For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received: that Christ died for our sins in accordance with the Scriptures, that he was buried, that he was raised on the third day in accordance with the Scriptures” (1 Cor 15:3-4).

Parking
We have parking available in our lot on our campus. On special occasions some of our members will park elsewhere nearby to ensure we can accommodate everyone. If it is raining, some of our greeters will assist you with an umbrella.

Dress Code
Dress is pretty casual. You might stand out if you wear a suit and tie, although you are welcome to do so! We think 'what's on the inside' is much more important, however, we do encourage modesty.

FOOD PANTRY
The Water's Edge "Bread of Life" food pantry is open every Tuesday from 1:30-4pm. Citizens of Virginia Beach may utilize the pantry one time per month (with proof of residency). We are a partner agency with the Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia and the Eastern Shore. Click below to learn more about their efforts to "eliminate hunger in our community."
CRISIS PREGNANCY CENTER
The Crisis Pregnancy Center of Tidewater is a Christ-centered organization with a calling to reach out to women and families involved in crisis-related pregnancies by offering real help for the present, hope for the future, and healing from the past.
UNION MISSION MINISTRIES
One of the local ministries we support is the Union Mission. UMM exists "to aid the poor and needy; to reform the erring; to help those that are out of the way; to feed the hungry; to shelter the homeless; to preach the gospel; and to rescue the perishing."
INTERNATIONAL OUTREACH
YAP
Gary and Gwen work in Micronesia to help the church grow and expand by providing training and seminars in leadership development and church planting. The Bistritans helped to start Yap International School at the request of the church.
HONDURAS
WEC has a sister church in El Ocote, Honduras that we visit semi-annually for mutual encouragement, ministry engagement, and community development. Pastor Daniel Orellana and his wife Corrina have served faithfully for many years.
