Who we are
Our Calling as Wrenthorpe Methodist Church is to:
Increase awareness of God’s presence and to celebrate God’s love. Help people grow and learn as Christians, through mutual support and care. Be a good neighbour to people in need and challenge injustice. Encourage more people to follow Jesus Christ.
In order to fulfil that calling we need to be a:
Family Friendly Church A worshipping Church Church that Serves
Vision:
We have a vision of a lively, inclusive and growing Church, which is a light to the whole village and our communities; a Church that cares for its church family, for the communities we serve and for the wider world.
We strive to be a welcoming Church to all and recognise that this is a shared responsibility for us all.
We are a Church that strives to be relevant to all, values everyone and will continue to embrace young people and all age groups within our Church, including the isolated elderly.
We will collaborate with other churches in the village to promote a greater sense of unity and purpose as we seek to spread the good news of the Gospel.

Leader Bio:
I joined our Circuit in September 2016 and was previously Chaplain at the Children's Hospital in Sheffield and lay Minister at Millhouses Methodist Church. I received my first License as an Anglican Church Minister back in 1987 when I served on the Isle of Dogs in East London.
Born in Cardiff, I and my parents attended Ely Methodist Church when my mother was a local preacher and my father ran the Boys Brigade. I moved to South Yorkshire in 1999. I am married to Rachel McCallam, who works for the Methodist Church as the Co-ordinator for the Yorkshire Plus Regional Training Team.
We have four children between us - Richard is 25 and has his own flat in Rotherham where he is cared for in a shared housing block - he has Autism. Stephen is 23 and having been at Aberystwyth University studying International Politics and History (2:1) is now working in a Law Firm in Sheffield. Eve is 22 and having got a ‘First’ in Fine Art is now working in Brighton for the YMCA as an Outreach Officer with homeless and vulnerable adults. Isaac is 18 and has just started his final year as a welder and metal fabrication apprentice in Sheffield.
As well as being a ‘church minister’, I am Nationally Qualified Youth and Community Worker, having studied full time with the YMCA – I have a passion for working with children and young people. I have pastoral charge of Lindale, Methley and Wrenthorpe chapels, am in my second year as being the Mayor of Wakefield's Chaplain, am Co-Chaplain of Wakefield Hospice, Chaplain to the Methodist District’s young people’s ‘ONE’ Programme and the Lead Minister in exploring the redevelopment of Newton Hill Cricket Club in Outwood.

Give me a stout heart
Give me a stout heart to bear my own burdens. Give me a willing heart to bear the burdens of others. Give me a believing heart to cast all burdens upon Thee, O Lord.
