Who we are

Our MISsion

To actively witness to the faith that is given to each of us as we open our hearts and minds to God, and to share this wholeheartedly with those who live, work and study in downtown Montreal through the transforming love of Jesus and the empowering of the Holy Spirit.

Our Goals

Enhance our worship and Christian education to touch the hearts and minds of our congregation and the community that surrounds us;

Assist families and individuals in coping with the many challenges of modern life.

Invite others to be members of our community so that we may serve God, our neighbours and one another.

Provide a sacred space where all may come to experience the presence of God through prayer and meditation.

Provide food and shelter to the poor and homeless and to help transform unjust structures of society that contribute to these social maladies.

To go deeper in relationship with other faiths by working together on projects and programs that reflect our shared core values.

Communicate effectively within our parish community and with our neighbours.

Support and sustain our ministries through consistency and generosity in stewardship and fundraising.

Redesign and repurpose our property to better serve our community.

Leader Bio:
I’m thrilled to be able to be part of St Georges Place du Canada again having served here as honorary assistant in 2008. I look forward to helping build on the forward momentum created by Fr Mackison and to being a support to the Parish during this interim period. As the Coordinator of Congregational Development for the Diocese of Montreal I assist parishes in developing their vision and mission, growing healthy stewardship practices and implementing fresh expressions of Church. Prior to this role, I was the parish priest at St George’s, Ste Anne-de-Bellevue for ten years. Ordained in St David’s Cathedral in 1999, Ihave served in Wales, Vancouver and Montreal and have a doctorate in medieval spirituality. Married to Kerstin, we have two young adult children Jonathan and Eden who are at CEGEP and University. We still have our little dog, Princess.

St. George's Anglican Church History

St. George’s first opened its doors on what is now Notre Dame Street just outside the city walls in 1843 to accommodate the overflow (“chapel of ease”) from Christ Church Cathedral.

The present neo-gothic building was opened for worship on October 9, 1870. Ever since that time, St. George’s has been a lively and active downtown parish known for its exceptional choir, beautiful liturgy and Biblical preaching.
