MISSION STATEMENT
The mission of Mt. Tabor Missionary Baptist Church, as a body of Christ, is to worship Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior; to evangelize the unsaved; to minister to the needs of humanity: to promote Spiritual growth and development through the study of God’s word and to equip every believer for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ.

Dr. Ticey Maurice Brown has been preaching in the city of Los Angeles for 31 years. Dr. Brown was called to preach at the age of 13 years old when he was a member of Laurel Street Missionary Baptist Church in Watts, CA, under the direct leadership of his Pastor and grandfather, Rev. E.D. Fortson.
Dr. Brown served in the Armed Forces for 3 years and during that time he was deployed to Iraq during the Persian Gulf War. Immediately upon his return he was elected and installed as Pastor of Laurel Street Missionary Baptist Church where he served as pastor for 5 years.
Dr. Brown completed studies at Los Angeles Bible Training School. He attended Biola University and received a Bachelor’s degree from California State University at Dominguez Hills. He was conferred two Master degrees and a Doctorate degree from Faith Seminary in Tacoma, Washington. Dr. Brown has traveled abroad to The Holy Land, Paris, France, Rome, Italy, London and to Oxford, England to enhance his studies.
Dr. Brown served as assistant to Dr. E.E. Stafford at Mt. Tabor Missionary Baptist Church faithfully for 10 years. Dr. Brown is now his 10th year as Pastor at Mt. Tabor.
Dr. Brown serves as a Vice President of the California United Baptist State Convention and a Vice Moderator for the Fellowship District Association.
Dr. Brown is the current Vice President of The California/Louisiana Crusade for Christ, a prestigious organization that has intersected California and Louisiana together for nearly 42 years to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Dr. Brown has run revivals all over the country; he is a preacher, teacher and believer of the Gospel, which he preaches Sunday after Sunday.
Dr. Brown serves on the Board of Directors for the Watts Healthcare Corporation.
In July 2014, Dr. Brown was designated Chairman of the Foreign National Board of the National Baptist Convention of America International, Inc.
