Leader Bio:
I grew up in the Niagara Region, and studied locally at Brock University before attending seminary at Wycliffe College at the University of Toronto. After school, I went to serve with Mennonite Central Committee in Sarajevo, Bosnia, where I met my wife, Ana. We, eventually, found ourselves ministering in a church in the northeast Saskatchewan and, not long after, parenting. And now, here we are, back home… sort of. :)

In a former life before children, I enjoyed reading, cycling, running, camping, hiking, traveling, and coffee. Today, I enjoy baking bread for the family, getting outdoors, and rediscovering former joys in new ways, like throwing rocks in water and reading books that were read to me as a child. That said, I still find time to read some grown up books too!

More recently, I have come appreciate the way that Walter Brueggemann, an Old Testament theologian, writes about the God of the Hebrew Bible. He names Him an unsettling God because of His commitment and involvement in the messy lives of peoples and nations; not as abstract or distant God, but as One who partners with them. And it is this same God who, in the New Testament, comes in a new and unexpected way to partner with His creation by becoming personally present in the form of a human being, Jesus.

The story continues with Jesus upon His returning to the Godhead, giving and empowering people to continue the work that He began, that God began, to partner with one another to bring new life and hope to all the world. This partnership is the church, and that is why I am happy that you have found me and this church community, because this is who we want to be.

Niagara United Mennonite Church History

In 1934 Mennonites came to the Niagara Peninsula and settled on farms in this area. Initially they gathered in private homes for worship until they were able to construct a church building. While we have a history as Mennonite people, we are first followers of Jesus and we welcome anyone who desires to follow him, or even just find out more about who Jesus is, to join us.
