St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church is a congregation of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA).

As God’s family led by the Holy Spirit, St. Peter strives to be a loving and welcoming community that invites others to share and grow in God’s word and grace. We are a family-friendly congregation who welcomes people of all stages of life. Located in the farming heartland, we are invested in serving our neighbors and caring for creation.

We were founded in 1834 and have resided in New Pittsburg, Ohio for over 180 years.

As we begin our partnership in the gospel as interim pastor and congregation, I would like to share a little about my life and ministry. I was born September 25, 1956, in Little Rock, Arkansas. The second oldest of six children, I grew up in Bloomington, IL and Sandusky, OH. I received the associate in arts degree from Golden Valley Lutheran College, MN in 1978 and in 1981 received my B.A. from the University of Minnesota. I attended Princeton Theological Seminary (NJ) for one year and received my Master of Divinity degree from Luther Northwestern Theological Seminary (St. Paul, MN) in 1985. I was ordained in the American Lutheran Church on June 2, 1985. As pastor I have served congregations in Peoria, IL, Brook Park, OH, and Barberton, OH. In addition, I have served several congregations as interim pastor and currently I am a part-time chaplain at St. Luke Lutheran Community in North Canton. I am married to the Rev. Barbara Bartholomew, who is a Presbyterian Church U.S.A. pastor. Barbara and I reside in Wadsworth, where we share our home with a retired racing greyhound.

I look forward to our time together as interim pastor and congregation and pray for our mutual growth in Christ as we serve and live in Him.

Traditional worship is at 10 AM every Sunday.

Holy Communion is offered on the first and third Sundays of the month, as well as all festival days (Christmas, Easter, Pentecost, etc.). Communion elements are prefilled and self-serve, a safe way to commune.

JUNIOR CHURCH: Held during worship each Sunday except the third. Children begin worship with their family then are released to go downstairs for Jr. Church for the rest of worship.

On the third Sunday children enjoy a Children’s Moment during the service.

Our building has an elevator that grants access to every level of our facility. Restrooms are also handicap accessible. Our sanctuary has seating areas intended for those who are in a wheelchair. Our aisles and hallways are wide to accommodate walkers and canes. Large print bulletins are available for those who prefer.
