Who we are
The parish of St Peter Anglican Church and St Saviour Anglican Church is located on the unceded, traditional territory of the Ligwi’da’xw people: the We Wai Kai, Wei Wai Kum, and Kwiakah First Nations; the unceded traditional territory of the Klahoose First Nation; the unceded traditional territory of the K’omoks First Nation and the unceded traditional territory of the Homalco First Nation. We seek a new relationship with the first peoples here; one based on honour and respect. We pray that we may live more deeply into the Calls to Action of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission

St. Saviour-by-the-Sea History
The Campbell River area was served by the Columbia Coast Mission until 1930 at which time it was decided to build St. Peter’s Anglican Church in Campbellton. The first service was held on March 22, 1931. For many years, it was used by both Anglican and United congregations. In 1943, the “newly-formed parochial district” of St. Peter was assigned a resident clergyman.
However, due to growth in the congregation a larger worship space was needed. In 1987, sod was turned for a new church of St. Peter at its present location on Dogwood Street. The church was designed to have a larger, more current and open space for worship, but one which would also have items from the old church that would help to preserve its history.
When you enter St. Peter’s sanctuary, you will notice the mixture of new church furnishings alongside beautiful stained-glass windows preserved from the old church. St. Peter’s continues to be a vibrant community of faith where its members strive to meet the needs of the growing city in which it resides.
St. Peter’s Church is also a two-point parish, and as such offers ministry to the congregation who resides on Cortes Island. At present there are services that happen at St. Saviour’s Church, Cortes Bay, on the 2nd Sunday of every month at 2:30 pm.
