Who we are
St. Stephen’s Comely Bank Church is a Church of Scotland congregation. We are a group of people that love God and proclaim Jesus Christ as Saviour and Lord.
We are not perfect, we don’t put on a ‘show’, we simply come together as we are, to learn more about why we were created.
What we believe
Central to us is our love and worship of God, who created us, daily sustains us, and rescued us from all evil, wrongs, and death itself. We get to know Him more and more as He revealed himself in the Bible, and through our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ, who rescued us from evil and death by His self sacrifice on the cross and resurrection form the dead. In our daily lives we try to be disciples of Jesus Christ, following His teaching and example. We express our love for Him by our love and practical care for each other and for those we live with and encounter in our daily lives.
Statement of Faith
As Christians, we believe in the birth, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. We believe that Jesus is the son of God and that he died in order to restore people into full relationship with God. We believe that the Bible is the Word of God and that prayer is a way to communicate with our loving and living creator God.
You don’t have to be a Christian to come along to SSCB, you are welcome just as you are.

Leader Bio:
George has been in full time ministry for over 24 years, with the Church of Scotland and previously with the Reformed Church in Romania. George has been at St. Stephen’s Comely Bank since 2015.
George grew up in Transylvania, Romania during the communist era. George and his family are ethnic Hungarian and his wife, Emma, is Scottish. George believes and preaches that Jesus is the Son of God, that he was born, lived, died and rose again from the dead. Jesus did this so that our sins, however big, may be forgiven. The Holy Spirit remains with us here on earth, so that we may read the bible, pray and know God for ourselves. George encourages members to know and love Jesus as our risen Saviour.

Our Church is Open for Worship in spite of the pandemic and the works at the church premises!
Worship 11:00am on Sundays – at church – All Welcome!
When coming to worship, please wear your face covering while you are in the building. At the entrance your name and phone number will be recorded for track and tracing purposes. There is a one way system in the church, please follow the signs. There are designated seats for single visitors and family groups at 1 metre distances between designated seats. You will be shown to an available seat. The capacity of the church sanctuary is 110 within 90 seating areas.
We can sing at the service, which is just great, but you need to wear your face covering while praising the Lord – don’t worry He will still hear it! While the worship is going on in the church, children gather for their Sunday Club and young people for their Inspire sessions in the large hall and at Number 7 (courtesy of Stockbridge Church). We are permitted to have informal hospitality after the service respecting the valid distancing rules. Thank you for your understanding in these unprecedented circumstances.
