Wesley Chapel History
Organized in 1837, Wesley Chapel was the first place of worship in Eel River Township. The first structure was a log house built in 1843, opposite the present church. In 1865 the present church was built at what was known as Johnston and McKee Corners, later known as Hellers Corners. Contact church regarding records. A history of the church is available at the Allen County Public Library. Area Methodist church marks 175 years by Rosa Salter Rodriguez published May 15, 2012 in The Journal Gazette newspaper recalled some of the early church history.
