Forgiveness

• Forgiveness is not some "churchy" technique or formula. Forgiveness is constant from God's side, which should become a calm, joyous certainty on our side
• Recognizing the social nature of sin, Christians also should go to others they have offended to seek reconciliation. A revival of religion may be expected when Christians begin to confess their sins to one another.
• The only way to break through lifelong patterns of unforgiveness is to take time - daily for a while - and reflect on all that God has forgiven you for
• Dear Lord, help us to stay focused on you, to forgive those who sin against us, to desire the best for them, and to have hope for your triumph over sin and death
• Lord, forgive us when we forget you and out of fear and lack of faith take matters into our own hands.
• Eat this sacred food so that your bond of unity with Christ may never be broken. Drink this sacred blood, the price he paid for you, so that you may be forgiven your sinfulness.
• Jesus has given you the power to forgive your own sins, as long as you are truly sorry. This is an awesome responsibility but is central to your life as a Christian
• It is He who forgives all your guilt, who redeems your life from the grave, who crowns you with love and compassion, and who will ultimately renew your youth
• God sent his Son into the world to save us and to redeem us from sin. Knowing that we would sin, he gave us a sacrament to forgive sin
• The ability to forgive those who have wronged you is the very artery that flows with life. At every stage of our spiritual journey, they bring us life: supernatural life, the life of grace, which makes us holy
• The tremendous truth about our God is that when he forgives, he forgets. It is hard for us to understand such great mercy.
• God is not induced to forgive the poor because of their merits or their moral dispositions but because of their greater readiness to repent
• We cannot live together in harmony, in a family or in another kind of community, without the practice of forgiveness and reciprocal mercy
