His parents Howard and Ellamae were shop keepers in Hampton for many years before retiring. John is married to Heather Wade and they have three children: Ryan (13), Andrew (12) and Timothy (10). They currently live in Quispamsis, New Brunswick. John graduated from Kennebecasis High School in 1987 and went on to attend Atlantic Baptist University earning a B.A. in Biblical Studies in 1991. John continued to pursue his studies at Acadia University where in 1995 he earned a M.Div., and in 2007 a D.Min. John was ordained to the Christian Ministry in 1996 at First Chipman United Baptist Church at Gaspereau Forks, New Brunswick. He served there until the summer of 1997 when he accepted a call to The Tabusintac Pastoral Charge of The Presbyterian Church in Canada. He served this three point Charge for six years before accepting a call to St. Matthew’s Presbyterian Church in Saint John New Brunswick in January 2004. John served there until St. Matthew’s and St. John and St. Stephen amalgamated in 2008. John has served on various Synod Committees as a member and convener such as Personnel and Camp Geddie. John is a former Moderator of The Synod of The Atlantic Provinces (135 Annual Meeting) and is currently Convener of the Synod Council. John’s community involvements and passions include serving as a board member of The John Howard Society of Saint John and New Directions of Saint John. He is also Padre of Branch 55, Royal Canadian Legion in Rothesay, New Brunswick. John also has a passion for Scottish history, theology, and genealogy and is a member of The Saint Andrew’s Society of Saint John and in his free time he is an avid fisherman and Class II Guide.
