He was saved in October of 1975 at Wynnburg Baptist Church, during a revival meeting. He grew up attending Second Baptist Church in Union City, Tennessee, took a very active part in the church and was very serious about his Christian life. He was able to go on two separate mission trips as a youth, one to Arizona and the other to Belize Central America. In 1985 his family moved to Martin, Tennessee where he graduated from Westview High School in 1987. He served in the Army for four years and in the National Guard for ten years. Scott said this about the time he spent in the Army - "I spent several years living away from home, away from the church, and even away from God. Although He was always with me, I was not always with Him. God used several circumstances in my life to try and draw me back to Him". He finally heeded His calling in 1994, and began to not only return to God and to church, but to seek after God with all he had. In 1995 he decided that whatever God wanted of him, he would give in obedience. In 1996 while attending his wife's home church he answered God's call into the Gospel Ministry. Scott attended Martin Methodist College beginning in the fall 1997 and in May of 2001 he received a Bachelor of Arts in Church Vocations emphasizing in Pre-Seminary. During the summer of 2000 Scott and his wife were privileged to be able to travel to Jerusalem and study the "History of the Holy City" at the Hebrew University for a month.
