Allen Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church was founded on February 11, 1918. It is the oldest historically African American church in Portage County. Its current membership is culturally diverse.
The African Methodist Episcopal Church was founded in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1797 and was incorporated in 1816. Richard Allen was the founder and first elected and consecrated Bishop It is an international church.
