Who we are
We are located in the Heart of Central Fl in the small town of Dundee. Our church was started in October 1952 in a small house across the street from our current location. We purchased the property we are on and started building. Our pastor Jim Lyle and his lovely wife Nina served here for 31 yrs and just retired May 2012. Our Associate Pastor Elton Ovitt was voted in as new pastor August 2012. He and his family have been members since Nov.1987. He and his lovely wife Yvonne are here to serve! We are a smaller church we still sing hymns and use the old King James version of the Bible. We currently support 27 missionaries who are serving on the mission field. Everyone is welcome to come by and give us a try, we would love to have you join our family!

Pastor Ovitt and Yvonne were born and raised in Island Pond, Vermont.
He was saved June 24, 1983 in Hanover, N.H.Yvonne was saved in Nov. 1975.
In November 1987, the Ovitt family moved from Vermont to Haines City, Florida.
They started attending the Baptist Temple of Dundee upon arriving in Florida. They drove the church van for several years.
In 1992 after God called him to preach, Brother Ovitt became the Youth Pastor where he served for six years. They have been active in the music ministry at the Church since arriving.
In 2002, a full time position opened for a music director, and God saw fit for Bro. Ovitt to fill that position. He was ordained and became the associate Pastor at that time.
On Aug. 19, 2012 three months after the retirement of Pastor Lyle, Pastor Ovitt was voted in as the new Pastor at the Baptist Temple.

The Baptist Temple was started in a little house down the alley across from where it sits now. Pastor Jack Thomas was our first pastor. The first payment on the property was in July 1953. They broke ground in 1957 and completed in 1960. In 1981 Pastor Jim Lyle became pastor and during this time, we purchased more property which is how we expanded and were able to build our fellowship hall and day care center. In 2000 we had a vision to build a new building. We named it project 2007. Pastor Lyle 's dream was to build debt free, and retire upon completion, however in May of 2012 he retired after 31 years of faithful service. Pastor Ovitt is carrying on his vision by seeing this building completed. We are so close! Just waiting on the CO and we will move in!!!!!!
