Who we are
At Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Adelaide, we believe in a loving God who has come to us in his son Jesus Christ and who makes himself known to us in the Bible.
Our faith in God is at the centre of all we do, both as individuals and as a community. Because of this we share our lives and support and encourage each other in both our joys and sorrows.
Our church community includes members from many different cultural and ethnic backgrounds. Some of our members live in the city itself, while others come from all around the Adelaide metropolitan area.
Our congregation has a long history. It was formed in October 1860 by about 25 families, and the first place of worship was a small church in Waymouth Street. The present Flinders Street building was erected in 1871-72.
Today members of our community continue to share a faith which is as relevant today as when our congregation was founded in 1860.

I have served as senior pastor at Bethlehem since April 2010. Before that I served as pastor at Bethlehem, Bendigo, Victoria, (2005-2010), and as associate pastor at St Paul's, Box Hill, Victoria (1998-2005). It is a blessings to serve in a team ministry with Pastor Joshua and the other staff at Bethlehem. As well as my duties at the congregation, I also have responsibilities to the wider church, including membership on the Lutheran / Roman Catholic Dialogue, and the Commission on Theology and Inter Church Relations.
I am married to Margaret, and have four children: Oscar, Francesca, Emmanuelle, and Daniel. I enjoy music, good conversation, and low-stress exercise.

Parking
Parking places along Flinders Street and Sudholz place can be very limited. Note that ticketed parking on the street mainly operates during week day business hours and doesn't apply on Sundays. The nearby parking station in Sudholz Place (U-Park) is open from 6.30am to midnight, $8 per car flat rate.

Wheelchair access to the church is available through the side entrance along Sudholz Place. There is seating just inside this entrance for people with mobility aids. For popular services, such as Christmas and Easter, this area fills up fast, so plan to arrive early. If you need assistance, please seek help from one of the ushers on duty for the service.
To access the entrance to Bethlehem House there is a wheelchair ramp along the western side of the building.
There is no designated parking for people with a disability but spaces are often left available directly in front of the main church entrance on Flinders Street.
