OUR VISION
Centenary United Methodist Church seeks to bear witness to Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. We have come now into the third century of existence. We seek to welcome in love persons of every walk of life. If you desire to come worship with us, we gladly welcome you. All people have sacred worth and the fabric of Centenary grows stronger with each new thread. We welcome you to be a part of our heritage and our future.

The mission of Centenary United Methodist Church is to live out our Wesleyan heritage and Christian witness. Be it in the words that we speak on Sunday morning in our beautiful 100 year-old sanctuary, the deeds that we do in our community, or how our lives are seen by others in the course of a week, our desire is to speak and live out the Good News of Jesus Christ that others may see in us our witness for Christ Jesus and desire, therefore, to receive God’s gift of salvation for themselves, if they do not yet know Him.

Smithfield’s Centenary United Methodist Church was founded in 1839. It was an outgrowth of a powerful camp meeting near the Neuse River conducted by “preachers on horseback,” Methodism is famed for traveling evangelists.
