Who we are

WHAT WE BELIEVE

In essential beliefs we have unity.
“There is one body and one Spirit…….there is one Lord, one faith, one baptism, and one God and Father of us all…..”

Ephesians 4:4-6

In non-essential beliefs we have liberty.
“Accept him whose faith is weak, without passing judgment on disputable matters…..Who are you to judge someone else’s servant? To his own master he stands or falls…… So then each of us will give an account of himself to God……so whatever you believe about these things keep between yourself and God.”

Romans 14:1, 4, 12, & 22

In all our beliefs we show love.
“……if I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing.”

I Corinthians 13:2
THE ESSENTIALS WE BELIEVE

God
We believe in one God. God is uncreated, eternal, all-powerful, and perfect in Holiness. He exists in three distinct persons, God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.

Genesis 1:26-27, Deuteronomy 6:4, John 1:1, Acts 5:4, Matthew 3:16-17

God the Father
Out of nothing, God created all things by His word and for His glory. By His word He lovingly reigns and rules as Sovereign over all things past, present, and future, guiding them to His desired end. His ultimate end is the glory of His name throughout all the earth by all peoples.

Genesis 1:1 Genesis 1:26-27, Isaiah 43:7, Revelation 5:9-10, Revelation 22:3

Jesus Christ
Jesus Christ, the only begotten uncreated Son of God was the eternal Word made flesh, supernaturally conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. He is the image of the invisible God, the first-born of all creation, and in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily. He lived a sinless human life and offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all people by dying on the cross. He arose from the dead after three days to demonstrate His power over sin and death. He ascended to Heaven’s glory and is seated at the right hand of the Father where He intercedes for His people and rules as Lord over all things.

Genesis 1:26-27, John 1:1, 1 Corinthians 15:3-5, Colossians 1:16-20

The Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit is fully God and has been sent by the Father to glorify the Son. Through the proclamation of the Gospel, the Holy Spirit convicts, regenerates, fills, empowers, and gifts God’s people. At the moment of salvation He joins with our spirits to create a new being in Christ. He lives with all believers to comfort, enlighten, and empower us for daily living. All of the gifts of the Spirit at work in the first century church are available for believers today and are given by the Holy Spirit as He wills for the edification of the church. The Holy Spirit leads Christians to behold the finished work of Jesus and transforms us into people with lives bearing the fruit of the Spirit. In all things, He glorifies the Son.

Genesis 1:26-27, John 3:8, John 16:14, Acts 5:4, 1 Corinthians 12:1-11, 2 Peter 2:21

God’s Word
The Bible is God’s Word to us. It was written by human authors under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit. It is the final authority of truth for Christian beliefs and living. Because it is inspired by God, it is without error in all that it teaches.

2 Timothy 3:16-17, 2 Peter 2:21

Humanity
God made humanity, male and female, in His own image that we might glorify Him through the enjoyment of fellowship with Him. Male and female were designed by God to function in complementary roles even before the fall. In the beginning humanity innocent concerning sin, but through the endowment of free choice, Adam and Eve disobeyed the command of God and brought sin into the human race. All mankind now stands condemned. Because of that sin, all humans have been credited with that sin and are by nature and choice spiritually dead sinners. Only the grace of God can restore us into a right relationship with Him.

Genesis 1:27, Psalm 14, Romans 3:9-20, Ephesians 2:1-4, Titus 3:3

The Gospel
The Gospel is good news about God’s plan to redeem mankind through the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Salvation is a free gift from God. Whosoever repents and believes on the name of Jesus as his savoir will not perish but shall have everlasting life. Salvation includes regeneration, justification, sanctification, and glorification which all flow from and through Jesus.

John 3:16, Romans 8:28-30, Ephesians 1:1-14 1 Corinthians 15:3-4, 1 Peter 1:3-5

The Church and Her Mission
The local church is a community of regenerated believers who confess Jesus Christ as Lord. In obedience to the bible they organize under qualified Elders and Deacons, gather regularly for preaching and worship, receive the Biblical ordinances of baptism and communion, are unified by the Holy spirit, are disciplined for holiness for their good and God’s glory, and disperse to fulfill the Great Commandment and the Great Commission. The church is to be missionaries to the world for God’s great glory and their joy. The local church is a part of the global church that is comprised of all God’s people
from all time and all places.

Genesis 12:2, Deuteronomy 7:6-8, Matthew 1:21, Acts 2:42-47, Acts 20:28, 1 Peter 2:9-10

Baptism
Baptism is the required act of obedience involving the immersion of a believer in water. It identifies our union with Jesus, His life, death, burial, and resurrection. Jesus commanded that we do this throughout the whole world and that we, as the church, have the authority and responsibility to do so.

Matthew 28:18-20, Romans 6:1-4

Communion
The Lord’s Supper was instituted by Jesus to serve as a visible reminder for us to remember His death and anticipate His second coming. We are to receive the bread and the fruit of the vine as symbols of the body and blood of Jesus that were broken and shed to give us life.

Matthew 26:26-29, 1 Corinthians 11:17-34

Heaven and Hell
The spiritual part of all persons exists eternally. We will either be separated from God by sin or with God though forgiveness and salvation. Both saved and lost will one day be resurrected; the lost unto eternal damnation and the saved unto eternal union with God.

Matthew 24, Acts 1:11, Revelation 19:11-20, Revelation 20 – 22
