Who we are

Welcome to Central Essex County Catholic Family of Parishes!

Formed in 2020, our Family of Parishes includes the parishes of St. Clement, Holy Name of Jesus, St. John the Evangelist, and St. Mary. We strive to bring the Love of God to the heart of Essex County.

To register for weekend Masses please note the following:

1. Due to the limited capacity and strict Covid guidelines, on line reservations are required.

2. This on line registration begins every Tuesday at 5 pm to every Friday at 4:30 pm only. Please no phone in reservations.

3. If you do not have access to the internet please call the office on Tuesdays only to reserve your spot.

Covid guidelines remain - face masks are required (sheilds are not allowed - if you cannot wear a mask please contact Fr. Seejo in advance of attending Mass), along with social distancing and sanitizing.

Church of the Holy Name of Jesus History

Established in 1887 in the Town of Essex, the parish of Holy Name of Jesus was originally called St. John. It was a mission church for over 50 years before it became a parish. Fr. Ignatus O'Neil became the first resident Priest whose forsight established the first Catholic Elementary School and first bus transportation in the Essex area using his own funds. Today, there are over 1,300 families and growing as the Catholic population continues to expand in the area. It is a vibrant and active parish on all levels.
