Who we are
What We Believe
Covenant Chapel is a parish of the Reformed Episcopal Church, a denomination founded in 1873. We are an evangelical church in the Anglican and Reformed tradition and a charter member of the Anglican Church in North America. Our desire is to serve God and the communities in northern New Jersey by proclaiming the gospel of Jesus Christ in both our preaching and living.
We hold to the doctrines of grace as they are found in the 39 Articles of Religion and worship using a Book of Common Prayer liturgy taken from the evangelical branch of the historic Anglican Church. We invite you to join us for worship and to contact us should you have any questions or needs.

Sunday School
Sundays 9:45 to 10:45 AM - September through June
Covenant Chapel offers Sunday School classes every Sunday from September through June. At 9:45 AM we meet together in the Sanctuary for Opening Exercises which consist of prayer, songs and mission updates.
At 10:00 AM we break into our individual classes lasting 45 minutes. The adults and high-schoolers stay in the sanctuary for adult Sunday School. Younger children attend separate, grade-specific classes.
In the past, our adults and high-schoolers have studied 'Trinity in the Holy Testament', 'The Judges of Israel,' and R.C. Sproul's 'From Dust to Glory.' Our younger students work through materials from Great Commission Publications on topics like 'Living Together: God & His People,' 'Jesus in the Gospels' and 'Bible Survey: Genesis-Revelation.'
At all levels, Sunday School at Covenant Chapel is focused on God’s word, tailoring our classes to the spiritual and developmental needs of our students. Our Sunday School teachers are committed to creating a safe and welcoming environment where you and your children can grow in your knowledge and love of The Lord.

Covenant Chapel Reformed Episcopal Church History
Our Beginnings
Covenant Chapel began as a Bible study in the late 1960s. Emmanuel Reformed Episcopal Church in Somerville and St. Luke’s Reformed Episcopal Church in New Providence worked together to plant a work that would complete a triangle of Reformed Episcopal parishes in northern, central New Jersey.
Our parish incorporated in 1968, purchased a home with a three-car garage in which the church could meet in 1970, and expanded the home to include our current sanctuary (pictured here) and fellowship hall in 1980. We are thankful for the Lord’s provision as we seek to meet the needs of the Basking Ridge community with the gospel of Jesus Christ.
