Destiny Church is a church that exists to help people know God, find freedom, discover purpose, and make a difference. You’ll discover that our passion is to provide an atmosphere where people just like you can have a life-changing experience with God.
At Destiny Church, our doors are wide open to people from all backgrounds, regardless of where they are on their spiritual journey. What people usually notice first about us is the life-giving, welcoming atmosphere.
Our goal is to infuse destiny and God’s love into people and families through engaging, powerful worship experiences that offer biblical truth in relevant and practical ways.
But it won’t take you long to discover that we’re more than just a Sunday church. In fact, we’re actually a network of connect groups. And if you’d like to develop authentic and enduring relationships with others, you’ll be glad to know there are opportunities to join a group all the time.
Together, we’re striving to become the kind of church described in the Bible, where there’s relevant teaching, authentic worship, honest friendships, constant prayer, and compassionate care for those in need. Pastors Stephen and Zai are the bold, encouraging, life-giving leaders of Destiny Church. Since it began in 2011, Destiny Church has grown to a community of hundreds of people and is known for its exciting culture and focus on leading entire families to a passionate relationship with God.
As the son of a pastor, Pastor Stephen comes from a ministry background while Pastor Zai comes from a family led to Christ by a missionary in her native country Sierra Leone. In spite of their vastly different backgrounds they share this same passion--to see people discover their God-given destiny, and they have given their lives to help others find fulfillment.
Between the two of them, they have over fourteen years of ministry experience. Prior to pastoring Destiny Church, Pastor Stephen served as a student pastor and was involved in college ministry and Pastor Zai was a discipleship pastor amongst various other volunteer positions in the church.
With Pastor Zai being a Pittsburgh Steelers fan and Pastor Stephen declaring that the Baltimore Ravens are God’s favorite team, it is a miracle but they are happily married and currently reside in Columbia, MD.

Pastor Stephen Chandler dreamed of planting a church with a simple goal: Help people connect with God in a church without letting structures and programs get in the way. With the help of the Dream Team—40 people committed to seeing this dream become a reality—Destiny Church launched on September 11, 2011. That first Sunday, 331 attended at our first Baltimore location.
Pastor Stephen focused on reaching out to the non-churched community, building relationships through Connect Groups meeting throughout the city. The life-giving message of the Gospel, the passion and joy of Sunday Celebrations, and the simple style of Destiny Church brought immediate results. In the first year 325 people committed their lives to Christ. At the same time, the church helped in the planting other churches through a partnership with the Association of Related Churches and gave over ten percent of its income to missions.
Destiny Church offers contemporary, biblically-driven worship services that are alive with energy and creativity, as well as excellent childcare, exciting children's and student ministries, and dynamic small groups.
God is at work at Destiny Church. If you haven't visited, we invite you to see for yourself how exciting church can be when the focus is simple and people are free to go after God with passion!
