Who we are

Welcome to Gloucester Community Church!

Gloucester Community Church: Loving. Serving. Transforming.

Gloucester Community Church is passionate about being a family that is welcoming and loving to all. We desire to live as people pursuing deep relationships with God, recognising and valuing the unified diversity found in Him.

We are a vibrant intergenerational church, committed to loving, serving and transforming our community. We meet at St. Luke’s, a former Methodist church building, just outside the centre of Gloucester. We serve our local community through a variety of activities for all ages, and partner with local and overseas organisations both within Gloucester and beyond.

We are part of the Salt & Light family of churches, and connect with other churches in the region through this network. We are members of the Evangelical Alliance, agree with their Basis of Faith and seek to abide by the guidelines of the Evangelical Relationships Commitment.

Gloucester Community Church Gloucester Service Times

GCC meets at 10:30am each Sunday at St Luke’s, Stroud Road.

Our services have a lively yet relaxed atmosphere which aims to include people of all ages. We usually begin with worship – giving time to praise God, to celebrate his work in creation, salvation and our future hope, and allowing him to speak to us through the Holy Spirit. Another important part of our services is the preaching of Scripture. We usually work systematically through a book of the Bible or follow a theme.

Children are very welcome and valuable members of God’s family alongside all the adults. On a Sunday morning the children begin by being encouraged to worship in the main meeting as part of the wider family. There is space for them at the front of the hall where they are free to worship God using instruments and ribbons, or simply to dance around! After about half an hour the children leave the main meeting and go to their own groups. There are groups for children from 6 months to 11 years old! Find out more about activities for kids on a Sunday.

Another important part of our meetings is the opportunity to have fellowship with one another, and we encourage everyone to stay for teas and coffees after the meeting.

Children and Youth Activities

Under 12s:
Sundays

On a Sunday morning we start together as a whole family, with the kids actively involved in our time of encountering God, and after about half an hour the children go to their age specific groups.
UNIQUE (6 months to pre-school)

We believe that even the youngest of children can know God’s presence and learn about him. Every week they hear a short, usually interactive, Bible story and have the opportunity to explore the story through craft and guided play. They are also prayed for and encouraged to join in with the prayers as they are able to. For those that are still very little there are toys to play with, which the older ones join in withonce they have explored the story as much as they want!
LIGHT (Reception to Year 2)

In Light the children are encouraged to learn more about God and his Son Jesus, and it is in this group that they often begin to take their own steps towards becoming a friend of Jesus. They follow a pattern of Bible stories taking them through the Old and New Testament, from the more familiar stories to a wider picture of the Bible . They then get involved in a variety of games, craft activities and structured play which help them to explore and understand the story. We also encourage the children to spend time talking to Jesus and listening to what He says to them or shows them. During their morning there is also often time for a drink and a biscuit!
TREASURE (Year 3 to Year 6)

Out in Treasure the older children are also encouraged to continue learning from stories and passages across the Bible and to deepen their understanding through discussion, crafts, and games. We also encourage them to spend time talking to and listening to God, supporting them as they grow in their friendship with Jesus. As this age group are becoming more able, when opportunity arises, we encourage and help them to find ways of serving the church family and their local communities.
