Who we are
Grace Lutheran Church is a member of the Lutheran Church - Missouri Synod. We hold firmly to the teachings given to us in Holy Scripture and explained to us in the Lutheran Confessions and Small and Large Catechism.
What We Believe......
About our God: We believe that there is ONE God, the Triune God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
About our Savior: We believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, was born of the Virgin Mary, and is the only Savior of the world. We firmly believe that he lived completely without sin, and yet died on the cross for the sins of the world, rising again three days later. He ascended into heaven and now sits at the right hand of the Father.
About the Bible: We believe that the Bible is the inspired and inerrant Word of God, the only rule and norm for life, faith, and practice.
About Worship: We believe that when we gather in God's house to worship, in that time God comes to us. He comes to us to teach us through the proclamation of His Holy Word and feed us with the Body and Blood of Jesus Christ.
About Confession and Absolution: We believe that whenever we confess our sins, our Father in heaven hears and forgives us. Not because of anything we have done but solely out of divine fatherly love for his creation. We believe that when we hear the words of absolution on Sunday mornings from our Pastor, God is at work in him and so we are hearing and receiving forgiveness as from God himself.
About Baptism: We believe that in the waters of Holy Baptism, God creates faith and washes away the sins of His people. This He mandated in the Great Commission saying: "Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you."
About the Lord's Supper: We believe that when our Lord says "This IS my body" and "This IS my blood" that he truly meant it. Therefore we believe, teach, and confess that Christ's very body and blood are together in, with, and under the bread and the wine. We believe that in this precious meal our Lord is imparting to us forgiveness of sins, life, and salvation.
We also hold to the words which St. Paul wrote "Whoever, therefore, eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty concerning the body and blood of the Lord. Let a person examine himself, then, and so eat of the bread and drink of the cup. For anyone who eats and drinks without discerning the body eats and drinks judgment on himself."
To this end, if you desire to receive Holy Communion when you visit us at Grace, we kindly ask that you speak with one of the elders or Pastor Chase before the service.
