Holy Resurrection Monastery History

Our Monastic Community of Holy Resurrection began it’s journey on February 1, 2012 when Archbishop Nathaniel, of Detroit and all America and Canada, gave his blessing to the monastery founders, Hieromonk Dionisie (Rodila) and Hierodeacon Neonil (Furdui), to establish the first West Coast monastery of the Diocese.

“We choose and God Decides” this was our thought as we looked for a place to establish the Monastery, which turned into a four step process. The first location selected was Portland, Oregon, the second was Sacramento, California and the third Chatsworth, California. None of which worked for one reason or another. Then God turned us in the direction of Temecula, California, the place, which God has given as a permanent home for the monastery.

On February, 2014, through God’s mercy and the intercessions of the Glorious Lady and Ever Virgin Mary, we were blessed with a beautiful twenty acre parcel of Southern California land located in the City of Temecula where our monastic life has been given its beginning. The peaceful and serene property consists of a house, a guest house, gardens, orchards and numerous other buildings and land which allows for future expansion – with God’s blessing.

May God bless this foundation and may the Holy Mother of God protect this island of peace and prayer in Southern California.
