Who we are

Jesus Es El Señor United Methodist Church is a vibrant group of people including children, youth, young couples, and older adults who are very much involved and active in the ministry. We proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ and provide opportunities for persons of all ages to grow spiritually and become involved in loving service to others. We are dedicated to spreading the love of Jesus Christ, through mission and outreach. Through the work of our local church and the larger connection of the United Methodist Church, the good news of Christ is multiplied and spread throughout the world.

Our Worship Service is bilingual (Spanish & English), passionate and Christ centered.

Music is important in worship to us and is performed in a variety of ways – Worship Band, Mariachi Band, individual and group singing, with different type of instruments, keyboard, electric and acoustic guitars, bass guitar, drums, etc. We believe and do what it says in Psalm 150; therefore, our worship service includes all types of musical instruments to praise our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Sunday School is offered for all ages - children, youth and adults. We believe that it is vitally important for a person’s spiritual development to be involved in some sort of small group – Sunday School, Bible Study, United Methodist Men and Women, etc. We offer a number of ongoing and short-term studies throughout the year including small groups and music classes for worship teams.

We would like to invite you to come and experience Christ at Jesus El Es Señor United Methodist Church. You will experience the warmth of Christian fellowship, as well as many opportunities for spiritual growth and renewal. Please come and join us!

Sunday School 10:00 and Worship Service at 11:15 AM. All are welcomed!

Jesus es el Senor United Methodist Church History

History:

The church was started as a mission for the Hispanic community in 1985, with pastor Eduardo "Eddy" Rivera; then in 1992 Pastor Adrian Garcia took his place and rented a store front accross from the Cobden, IL park. The congregation started growing so they prayed for a place to build a church for worship and to serve the people in the surrounding area. God responded with a 22 acre property north of Cobden. There was an old house and a red barn. The congregation cleaned the barn and with the provision of pews from other churches the place was known as "The Church in The Barn". The United Methodist Church received the congregation into the Illinois Great Rivers Conference and with the help of many people moved by God, the congregation built a multipurpose building where Jesus Es El Señor UMC continues to be an active part of the Cobden community.
