Quote of the Day
1 Timothy 6:10
For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

Leader Bio:
Growing up on a dairy farm in southeast Ohio, working construction as a welder, working in the coal fields as a heavy equipment operator and a supervisor has given me a very unique background of life experience. While growing up in the United Methodist Church, my faith journey took on a whole new dynamic when I accepted Christ as my personal Savior at a church camp between my eighth grade and freshman year in high school. Committing to reading the Word of God diligently and discerning God’s Will for my life, I began to teach Sunday school and remain active in the life of the church. Eleven years after graduation, I received a special call from God to enter pastoral ministry. Abandoning my career, I accepted a full time appointment in ministry and pursued my Bachelor’s degree from Wheeling Jesuit University and my Masters of Divinity degree from Asbury Theological Seminary. In July 2004, I was ordained an Elder of the United Methodist Church in the East Ohio Conference. As of July 1, 2016 I celebrated the completion of 29 years of ministry. As stated above, I have a very unique background of life experience which helps me to relate the Word of God to everyday people in everyday circumstances.

Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church History
Mt. Pleasant United Methodist church began in a log building and was called the Morrison Meeting House on January 30, 1835. The worshippers formed a Methodist Protestant Congregation in 1856 and received preaching on week days from ministers in the Leesburg Circuit, Muskingum District. In 1871, a revival was held that resulted in a subscription being taken to build a new church. A frame building with a 36 by 48 foot sanctuary was constructed at the cost of $3,051.75. On December 9, 1872 the Mt. Pleasant Methodist Protestant Church was opened for service with a membership of 99. The church consisted of one room heated by two coal stoves. It was lit by carbide lights which hung from the ceiling. Early Sunday school records indicate that collections were as low as 72¢ in the mid-1800s. The minister’s salary was $80.00 plus he was provided with a horse to ride and lodging. Since that time 51 ministers have served this church.
A choir of persons aged 9 through adults has been active since 1958. An Easter cantata, a Christmas cantata and a children’s musical are presented each year. Vacation Bible School (VBS) is a highlight of each summer and serves children aged 4 through 8th grade. On Tuesday evenings throughout the school year from 5 to 8 p.m. we offer a tutoring program for students of all ages as well as baby sitting to give busy parents a break as well as help children with their homework. Youth in grades 6th through 12th are encouraged to participate in a youth group that meets every Sunday at 6 p.m. Adults are not to be forgotten with Sunday school for all age groups that meets after worship each Sunday. Monday evenings often consist of a Bible study led by the Pastor. Tuesday mornings a Prayer and Share group meets to pray for those in need. Membership is currently at 258.
Since it was built in 1872 many renovations have taken place. A basement was added in 1953, an educational wing in 1966, more sanctuary space and classrooms in 1978 and a new sanctuary, classrooms, restrooms, preschool and office spaces were added in 2008. The former sanctuary was converted into a fellowship hall in 2010 and the basement into youth space in 2016.
We invite you to come and be a part of our ever growing family!
