Welcome to the Mt. Hermon Presbyterian Church!
We hope that you will find your way to join with us in worship on Sunday mornings at 11: 15 am.
Ours is a small congregation of under fifty members with a history dating back to 1840. Today, over one-hundred and seventy years later, we continue to be like those who founded the congregation as we take an unchanging God to a changing world through worship, fellowship and service.
We are a congregation in the Presbyterian Church(USA).
Our congregation is located in the Presbytery of Shenango. The Presbytery of Shenango is one of sixteen presbyteries making up the Synod of the Trinity.

Mt Hermon Presbyterian Church History
The history of the Mount Hermon Presbyterian Church divides itself into a Preamble and possibly four epochs. The Preamble began with the organization of the Neshannock United Presbyterian Church in 1818 and includes activities related to the organization of the Reformed Hermon Church in 1840.
The first epoch began with the organization of the congregation in 1840 and extends to December 23, 1868. The Hermon Reformed Presbyterian Church was first organized in 1840 under the ministry of Reverend Josiah Hutchman as a part of the Reformed Presbyterian General Synod and it was united with the Beaver Valley Presbytery of the Old School Presbyterian Church.
The second epoch of the congregation extends from December 23,1868 to April 12, 1887 when Reverend Robert McMillan was the pastor. The Hermon Church left the Reformed Presbyterian denomination to join the Presbyterian Church, U.S.A. In 1868, two separate churches were formed: Princeton and Hermon. This action of withdrawing from the Reformed Presbyterian General Synod caused the split of the former congregation into two groups: a Majority and a Minority. The date of April 12, 1887 stands as the time when two congregations were formed: Princeton Memorial and Mt. Hermon. In 1874, the church was first called Mount Hermon according to some of the historical records.
For a time the Hermon congregation worshiped in a building known as the Tabernacle, which was located just the other side of the Hermon Church Road from the present building. In 1903, a church that looked much like the present building was built where the church is now located.
The third epoch began on April 12, 1887 as two separate congregations were formed as indicated above. The old church stood only a few feet to the East of the present church building. It was used until 1903 when a new church was built at the cost of $6,000. The new facility was dedicated on November 18, 1903.
The church building built in 1903 was almost completely destroyed by fire on January 7, 1955. However, it was soon rebuilt with the addition of a balcony and a 16-foot extension on the south side as the fourth epoch of the church began as the church was soon rebuilt and re-dedicated with special worship service on September 27, 28 and 30, 1956.
In 1972, the sanctuary floors and pews were refinished by members of the congregation. Since that time a new sign has been placed in front of the church, folding partitions have been installed in the basement, and new lights and pew cushions have been placed in the sanctuary.
In 1980, the congregation celebrated 140 years since its founding, and in 2010, the congregation embarked on another of its many new beginnings since 1840. Over the more than 170 years since its founding, the Mt. Hermon Presbyterian Church has been served by many faithful and dedicated ministers and pastors who have remained true to the faith and beliefs of the founding fathers and mothers of the original congregation in 1840 as they embarked on taking an unchanging God into a changing world through worship, fellowship and service.
